Electric Poulan Pro 400E won't run. Can't turn chain manually or turn chain sprocket either. Feels stuck and won't budge.

Loosen the chain as it could have run over something or tightened itself as the chain dried out. But if it won't turn and it just humms or does' nothing the motor may have overheated and locked up. The motor may smell burnt ( like a hot elecrric stove) and it may be melted together. If its halfway new and you have the reciept you can try to exchange it but certain kinds of failures may not let you get an exchange

Did you make sure the brake was off before re fitting the side cover, if not the band will be smaller that the drum and will jam the drum and stop it from turning.

My poulan pro pp400e chain stops on cut,and the motor still runs

So the chain stops and the motor still runs. Does it run at high RMP or just idles. It could be the chain brake. My clutch froze up on me after an hour of running. I had to let it cool and then take it apart to free it up.

Sounds like your chain is to tight.Take the cover that is at right side of the saw motor off and loosen the two nuts a bit and look for a tension screw behind the bar and back it off,if the bar won't move loosen the two nuts that hold the bar on the saw. With the saw siting like you use it pull down on chain and get about 1/8 of an inch between the bar and chain.(use gloves)If the bar is blue by the chain groove You will need a new bar.Blue means the bar has over heated and lost its temper. The blue metal is brittle in other words. You should all so check the drive sprocket for wear.

Cannot get chain back on bar of poulan pro electric chainsaw model 1630

Slide the bar on the studs all the way to the left, or rear of the chainsaw, and feed the chain around the motor sprocket, THEN along the top of the bar to the right, and around the bar's sprocket at the right end of the bar, if this doesn't work, report back. This is the original bar and chain correct?

Try the easy solution first and post back if this does not solve the problem:

Insure your chain is on the teeth of centrifugal clutch sprocket correctly. It is easy to have it either on the inside of the sprocket or on the outside of the sprocket. If it is not on the sprocket teeth, it will not turn the chain.

Chain doesn't move

Sounds like the clutch is slipping due to oil collected on the inside of the clutch drum. Wash out the entire clutch assembly with spray carburetor cleaner and let dry. Make sure the chain can be turned freely by hand, but the chain doesn't droop from the lower bar edge. Hope this helps!

My Poulan E300 Electric Chainsaw stop oiling the chain and bar

Hello JK; I am hesitant to answer this, these are all Poulan electric chainsaws that appear when the parts source is searched for Poulan Electric Chain Saws:
400E Poulan Pro Electric Saw
400EX Poulan Pro Electric Saw
ES400 Electric Saw
PP250E Electric Saw
PP300E Electric Saw

All are plumbed the same to my eye. I assume you cleaned and tested the oil pick-up within the tank. If everything you say is true if the pump is driven it should oil.
1. What causes the pump to pump? I cannot tell from the IPLs. If gas and not gear driven, an impulse line (pressure/vacuum) from the crankcase drives it. There can be no impulse line on an electric and I see no gear. Does it rotate to pump oil? What imparts the rotation?
2. What purpose does item 27 (pinion) serve? Is it supposed to drive the pump? Is it missing teeth?
3. What is the purpose of item 44 (check valve). If it is an oil tank vent, and not opening, you are creating a vacuum in the tank if the pump is operating. Loosen the oil cap and see if it oils. If yes replace the check valve.

I think Joe Schmoe is saying Poulan redesigned the oil system to eliminate all the hose couplings. It makes sense, one hose from oil pickup (filter on hose end in tank) to bar is much less likely to leak, also no restrictions for any particles in the hose to form a clot on. I see nothing on my research to support Poulan doing that. There are a couple of new models that I cannot find an IPL for so it is possible. I have headache JK. If this does not solve it is not because I did not give it my all. Please post back (below) with success or failure. If successful what was the cause. TIA
