Question about Car Audio & Video

Vehicle: Jaguar XJ8 2004 w/Denso Navigation System. Display monitor has gone into a continual flash mode. Related systems that use the display panel - climate, audio etc. also flash when selected but can be used and function properly. Jaguar Dealership says it will have to rreplace system totally w/paerts alone at over $5k. Is this the only solution or are there speialists who can identify the cause and repai the component or module concerned? If there are how do I find them/

Have you tryed to shut the power off, then after 15 min turn the power on again and see if the problem still are there. Many problem go away when you shut down the thing.

Hi, Im sorry to say their is no good news to give you this can only be done at main dealers its impossible to buy the parts anywhere else as the technology they dont just sell to anyone in case someone wanted to fit it into a different car.

Even if you went to a smaller garage they would charge you more that the main dealer as they themselves would send the car to a main dealer and have to pay them the same plus they would charge you their bit on top so the main dealer option is the cheapest solution for new parts.

I have been working on mercs for years and its the same with them its just not possible doing the work without involving the main dealers for new replacement parts of this type.

The other option you have is second hand parts now the parts your after are hard to locate second hand but your best option would be to look for jaguar breakers yards as these would have taken the parts out of the car properly. You could look in the phone book for these and also on the net.

Its a really big job replacing them so thats another reason it costs so much but if you managed to get a second hand one then your best bet would be take these parts to a smaller garage like a back street garage and ask them just to fit the parts for you this would cut cost down loads.

As for getting the parts second hand you would need to speak to the breakers yard as to exactly what parts you need replacing the chances are you need the whole unit replacing witch is most likely the case with yours.

Im sorry their is no cheap or easy solution to your problem.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Navigation system wont work

You will have to buy a new navigation unit @ about $2,000. I have a 2006 Sienna XLE Limited with Navi. Mine broke by having no display, had a clicking noise, and the lights would come on and off about every 5 seconds. www.radiomedics.com told me they found the problem with the toyota navigation units (they had seen a lot of them) and could fix them for around $300 if Denso (the co. who makes the units) would sell them the part. But Denso will not sell the part so we are forced to buy a used unit (who knows how long that will last) or new. Toyota reliability, yeah right.

When the amount of available memory in flash memorybecomes low, "FILE" flashes in the lower left corner ofthe display in all of the submodes of the standard mode as well as in the dive mode. How do i connect my mobile with my x type jaguars phone system

If there is no mobile phone Paired to the
vehicle system and the SIG screen is
displayed, Pairing may be performed as
follows:
Select Phone Mode (if not already
selected).
Use touch-screen keypad to enter the
following digit sequence and press the
Send/End button.
The following sequence performs exactly
the same function, but times-out after
approximately five minutes, ##1#*#.
(If you are not familiar with the Pairing
process, this sequence is NOT
Recommended, because of the time-out
period.)
At the SIG**** screen the vehicle system
is waiting for communication with a
Bluetooth equipped telephone.
Check that your mobile phone is set to the
Jaguar Bluetooth system, using the menu
functions on the phone. Refer to the
handbook that was supplied with your
specific mobile phone.
When Jaguar device is found on the
mobile phone display, the phone will
prompt you to enter the pass key (1313)
on the mobile phone keypad.
When the above operation has been
completed and the phone is successfully
Paired and connected with the vehicle
system, the SIG* screen will be displayed.

Monitor will not come on. power light is flashing

Connect the monitor to any computer having windows operating system. Load to the BIOS screen, if the display comes up, the monitor is ok, the software or the driver software for the monitor has been corrupted, else if no display comes up, the monitor has gone bad.
