Question about Canon Digital Rebel / EOS-300D Digital Camera with EF-S 18-55mm Lens

1 Answer

CF FULL My 300D flashes "CF FULL" and is inoperable whether there is a cf card in the camera or not and when the CF card is empty. Thinking the CF card to be corrupted...I have tried three other empty CF cards that I have for the same camera all with the same result. I can copy images on and off the CF cards on my computer so I am assuming it must be the camera. Can I reset the camera is some way ? If I need to reformat the card/s how do I do it when the camera is frozen flashing "CF FULL" ? If the camera is faulty is it likely to be worth repairing ?

I just had exactly the same problem with my 20D. I removed and reinserted the battery and it fixed the problem.

What does Full CF mean

This could be referring to the type of memory card your camera uses. CF = Compact Flash.

What type of memory card can I buy for my Canon Digital Rebel EOS DS6041 in 2010? Can I use an Ultra CF 8GB card or do I have to use the SD CF and up to how many GB can I use?

OK, this specific unit supports up to a 8GB Ultra CF card.

Have a look at the link below. It should be sufficient.

Im getting an Error 99 on my EOS-300D Digital Camera when I turn off my YN 465 Speedlite flash gun (still mounted) and then I start shooting manually without the flash. Help please, its a bit annoying, but...

To fix this err99 issue, do the following
1. Turn off the camera. 2. Remove the lens, battery, and CF card. 3. Allow the camera to sit without power for approximately 20 minutes. 4. Insert a fully charged battery, and turn on the camera.
If it appears again, then proceed to next steps 1. Turn off the camera. 2. Insert the CF card. 3. Turn on the camera. 4. Format the CF card in the camera.
If you still get the error you should send your product to canon for servicing.

CF Card not found

Ok here is the issues with the Canon 300D digital Rebel XT model of camera. First issue bent pins or broken pins the CF card reader on this camera is Surface mounted soildered onto the bottom half of the mainboard a large ammount of disasimboly is required. After removing the mainboard next you need is a desolder rework station. to carefully remove the CF card reader from the mainboard one messup and it might be easier to replace the mainboard. Sometimes. next issue is the power issue if you have no bent pins or missing pins, and the battery door is pushing on the door closure switch and the memory card door is pusting on its door closure switch then most likely you issue is 1 of 3 fuses underneath the power switch. these switches are the size of a few grains of salt very very small.I charge 150.00 to change the fuses and 225.00 to replace the CF card reader as long as none of the traces are damaged. if they are damaged the main board would need to be replaced and it is around 250.00 + depending on the parts cost at the time. If your good at soldering go for it. if not then let the experts do it.

Exposure number in Canon does not change

Due to the age of the camera, the Ultra 2 CF card may be using a different architecture than your other CF cards. In other words, the card is incompatible with the camera.

One other problem may be that the camera is not designed to recognize a card which is of a larger capacity.

As I cannot find the 300D on Canon's site it is difficult to find exact specifications as to the abilities of the camera, as to what type of CF card it will accept, what the largest capacity it will accept, etc.

A more fixable problem would be either that the card is not formatted properly - which may be possible through the camera itself. Please try to navigate the camera's menu to find a format option. If not, you can insert it into a CF card reader and attempt formatting it that way. Please see Here for formatting through a camera.

Also, try Here for yet another possible explanation of your problem, as #6.

If the camera is meant to take the capacity and type of CF card, and is not damaged, the only other explanation is that it is write-protected. As I do not know the exact features of your CF card, I cannot say whether or not it has a manual write-protection switch. If it does, it would be a small sliding piece of plastic or metal on the side of the card which toggles the write-protection feature. It may also be write-protected as a file system, in which case you will need to format it.

If the card refuses to format due to a write-protection, you will need to remove the write-protection from the card first and then format it.

The following picture shows a CF card with a write-protection switch on the left hand side.

Thank you and take care,

Err CF

TRy and reformat the CF card through the camera. Youll lose the pics for sure but you cant see them anyway. You can also check for bent pins in the CF slot. Sometimes if you shut down the camera in mid write to the card, itll mess up the cards FAT (file directory)

Card error or camera error?

I am having the same issue with every CF card I put in the camera. But when I put the CF cards in other card readers, the pictures are able to be viewed. Not sure why the camera isn't recognizing the pics on the cards???
