Be certain that Mute is not enabled.

Be certain that the volume is turned up.

If still a problem, what PC / laptop do you have ??

Hope this helps.

So, when you test Speech Properties ... no sound ??

Check out Device Manager to see if any "?" in Sound Controllers. If so, Right-Click and delete or update the driver.

  • NinaE Sep 04, 2009

Hmmm ... what system (brand and model) do you have ??? Thanks.

  • NinaE Sep 05, 2009

    Hi.

Without knowing what system (brand and model) you have, I can't help you with the speakers.

Do you still need assistance ?

No sound except through headphones

The fact that the device produces audio output through the headphones indicates that the audio system is operable up to the headphone jack. Therefore, the fault must lie in the internal speaker, the wiring between the jack and the speaker, or the jack itself. Most likely, the internal speaker has gone belly-up and needs to be replaced...

My dell latitude d510 internal spk is ready but output headfone jek not working

these are fairly passive in that if a headphone or earpiece is plugged in, they switch the output from the internal speaker to the external speaker. So, it's usually one of a few problems.
  • The jack is mucked up, and needs replaced.
  • The headphone plug wires have a broken connection
  • The headphone needs power to amplify, and that's not working.
If trying another headphone or earpiece you know is working doesn't work, it's the jack itself. They can only handle so many uses before they either fail closed, or open or completely. Depending on which one, either:
  • neither speakers nor headphones work.
  • only speakers work
  • only headphones work
Replacement necessitates opening the case and replacing the jack. For that, there's no help.

Internal speakers are disabeled. Extearnal speakers work just fine

Headphone jack may be faulty as there is a contact that tells the uProcessor that the socket is in use and turns the internal speakers off. If the contacts are tarnished, they might not be opperating correcty.

After installing the HP H8000 Wireless Headset the notebook internal speakers are not working on my HP ENVY dv6

When connecting a headset or any other audio device to a laptops 3.5mm audio jack, it is designed to stop the internal speakers and run only from Headphones.

If you mean that even after disconnecting the Headphones the internal speakers are still not working, ensure that the headphone jack does not have anything lodged in it, any metal object can trick the laptop into thinking there are headphones connected, cutting the internal speakers out.

Try getting a DRY cotton bud, and clean out the port with that, this will get rid of anything that may be triggering the problem.

Headphone jack not working

Hi,

I find that there is a problem with your headphone speaker.
Try with some other headphone, even if it is not working, then you need to take it to the service center.

Cheers,

Adding remote control activated ''mute'' to TV headphone jack

Generally when the head phone jack is inserted the speakers will get disconnected automatically.

If you are going to use external amplifier you can try the AV sockets. Opening the TV you may require the special screw drivers some times.

Sound is working but internal speaker is not working

Connecting headphones to the system will disabled the internal speakers until the headphone jack is disconnected, at which such time the internal speakers should function again.

If you disconnect the headphones and the internal speakers are not re-activated, then there may be damaged to the microswitch in the jack. (Try rebooting after the headphones are disconnected too)

Stereo Speaker troubleshooting

It sounds like the audio jack itself has internal damage. Depending on how it is mounted on your laptop case, or possibly on an internal circuit board inside the laptop; it might be possible to repair the jack or replace with a new 1/8" audio jack. Some soldering skill may be required after disassembling the laptop and getting access to the jack.
