This is general error of the printer. When you have to change the new mother board you should be initialized it then it can be ready mode. When you try to initialization you need printer printer adjustment program. You can batter find out from google & write down EPSON Stylus R230 Printer Adjustment program or ink reseat program.
I guess your printer need to reset the counter ink pad, for reset the
counter you must have a adjustment/reseter software, and for your
printer type please download <a
Almost always, your describe concerns and considering the age of the unit indicates that the Epson printer has reached its " end of life " (most likely) or there is an internal fault (least likely). Initially, I would suggest to download and install ' SSC Service Utility for Epson Stylus Printers '. Its purpose is to bypass the counters and reset most Epson printers. The reset would force the printer to revert to factory defaults. The printer would be " fooled " into thinking that it is new (again).
Basically your printer says that you need to replace the waste ink pads. If this happens for the first time to this printer you can just reset the counter using SSC Service Utility (http://www.ssclg.com/epson.shtml) or if it happened more than once you shoul first replace the ink pads and then reset the counter or the printer may overflow. That's it.
The Waste Ink Pads are deemed to be saturated and should be replaced. You can overcome this problem temporarily bu using the SSC utility - download from
and reset the Protection Counter. However, remember that eventually ink will overflow from the waste ink area and make a dreadful mess, so you must change the waste ink pads before this happens. This requires the disassembly of the printer. A copy of the service manual is available from a number of sellers - just Google "Epson C46 Service Manual.
