Hi the best thing you can try in to un-install the software that you use for the camera as most often or not the software is to fault so installing this again should solve the problem.

Also you say it says camera busy does it say this when you connect to computer and if so is the message on the computer screen or on the camera itself.

Also have you transfered photos before using this camera?

Let me know then i can assist you further ok

Hi, is the batterys charged up on the camera turn the camera on then wait for it to come on properly then check if you can view your pictures on the camera leave the camera in this mode if you can when you switch it off and see if that makes any differance.

Do you plug the camera into your computer with the camera switched on or off?

Try plugging it in with the camera off see if this also makes any differance

Are your pictures stored onto a memory card inserted into the camera or are they stored on an internal mem.

The problem with digital cameras is if their is a problem developed with the firmware installed onto the camera their is no way you can re-install the firmware on the camera it can only be done by the people who make them.

try plugging it in with the camera switched off then try it switched on sometimes it gets round the problem.

But as the camera says its busy this is refering that the firmware software on the camera is trying to process the picture so they can be sent to the computer so any problems with this and the camera will need sending back to makers or shop you brought it from.

But if the pictures are stored onto a external mem stick that you put in the camera than just remove this and use a memory card reader and transfer the pictures that way, it tends to be easier doing it that way most people do it this way anyway saves messing around with the camera.

Have you also tried leaving the camera connected to the computer and see what happens after a certain amount of time as it might just be you have loads of pictures that the camera is trying to process.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance and ill be glad to help.

Ill keep looking for info whilst im waiting for your reply

EOS Utility does not recoganize Canon Rebel Xti

I believe there are 2 modes of usb transfer that you can pick in the camera. They are set somewhere in the menu in the options. If you go through the menus thoroughly you'll find it. One option is for connecting the camera directly to a printer and the other is for computer transfer (there might also be an Auto setting but I don't remember for sure). Make sure that setting is set for computer transfer. If that doesn't fix your problem, re-install or update EOS Utility / ZoomBrowser.

Transfer from XTI camera to PC

Seems to be a common problem with the XTi. Some say it's designed to underexpose to avoid washing out the bright parts of scene. Personally I found it a pita. I had to PhotoShop each shot.So I sent it back to the repair facility. They re-calibrated it. Now it works fine.
