Question about HP Pavilion dv2000t 14.1" Notebook Laptop PC (Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz, 1GB RAM, 100GB HDD, D... PC Notebook

I have a HP Pavilion tx 1000. Blank screen, LED lights on.

I have a HP Pavilion tx 1000. If I leave the computer running and come back 15 minutes later, or anytime the computer goes to sleep, it shows a blank screen and I cannot click on anything or get it to wake up...but all the LED lights are on and the computer is whirring.

When I boot the computer up, it often takes 3-5 times before I can get it to go all the way to the Windows screen (each time it makes it to the blank screen where it does nothing, I have to hold the on/off button to get it to shut down, then try to start it again).

What can I do to correct this issue?

however, it does not help with the boot error...as I have the same issue there...

Hello, seems like your sleep mode doesent work as it should. Try to download all windows updates and look for a fix on microsoft sites.
But the best solution is to inactive the sleep mode setting and use the Hibernate options(if you want a fast start) but I suggest that you turn off windows with shutdown, its the safest and best way to have your computer to work properly.

To inactivate sleep mode.
windows xp
go control panel and power options

Change the system standby to never.
also choose power schemes battery, and change the system standby to never.
also the harddisk to never.
This should solve your problem.

To activate Hibernate you need to click on hibernate tab and bock the square.
hibernate= saves all your work to harddrive to restart your computer where you left off.

sleep mode= saves your work to RAM memory=takes a little bit energy.

Avert it to go on sleep mode, I think that's the best way to resolve this. Windows often has difficulty to manage sleep mode on laptop. If your running on Windows XP : Go to Control Panel - Display - Screen Saver tab and Power... ajust the delay to the appropriate amount of time for each item. I usualy put Never when the PC is not feed by the battery.

For the "sleep" issue, do this:

Start Button ----> Settings ----> Control Panel ----> Power Options ----> First tab is "Power Schemes"... either change the scheme (they are pre-set for both running on A/C and Battery, or change manually). Click Apply and OK.

For the re-boot issue, try clearing out your cache of old temp files, temp internet, etc (use CCleaner, found at http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/?tag=mncol . Also use the Registry feature to clear old registry values that are no longer used (click "scan for Issues" and then "Fix Selected Issues". You will be asked if you want to backup your registry, be SURE and do this!

Hope this helps!

Try this program. they have a free 30 day trial.

http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/

do the one click fix under the "Clean up Windows" Tab.

This will take a long time the first time you do it but it should help you out.

My best guess would be registry issues in tandem with a bad boot sector for windows.

If it dosn't work,
Reply to me at Dhuhwhat@hotmail.com Title it Fixya. I had this same problem on a HP i had 3 or 4 years ago

I have the same problem and I can fix by myself with little cost. all you need is aluminum foil and oven to bake your motherboard.
1. first you have to dissemble your notebook
2. take your motherboard out.
3. take everything that stick on your motherboard i.e sticker, cables, battery, rubber (everything .. that easy to melt)
5. place aluminum on your oven surface. place your motherboard and bake it about 200 degree celcius for a 7-10 minutes.

ok I found better tutorial for how to bake your motherboard.

Hello

Do a hard reset on the laptop by removing all cords and connections from the computer, including the power cord. Turn the computer over and slide the tab next to the battery, then lift the battery out of its compartment.

Eject any SD cards currently inserted in the SD card slot by pressing on them, then remove them from the slot completely. Hold the computer's "Power" button down for at least 15 seconds, then plug the power cord into the computer and turn it on.

Watch to see if the LED lights near the "Caps Lock" and "Num Lock" illuminate. If the lights do not turn on and the computer's screen remains blank, inspect the power cord and AC adapter for damage and replace them if necessary.

Leave the power cord plugged into the computer and snap the battery back into its slot. Allow the computer to sit for at least 30 minutes, then unplug the power cord and press the "Power" button again to see if the computer will turn on.

Plug the power cord back into the computer and try to turn it on again. If the computer turns on, replace the battery with a new one. If the computer still does not turn on, take the computer to a repair shop.

I have a HP Pavillion TX 1000. Did everyone heard

It is highly improbable that heat from the CPU can crack a LCD screen. Even if the fan was faulty the CPU would have shutdown (thermal overload) before it would affect the LCD screen. If you apply pressure to the face of the LCD screen or twist the screen or impact the screen with a hard object, any of these will cause the LCD screen to crack.

I had this kinda problem solved on a Acer 5920 LAptop. The webcam driver was the culprit. Remove the cam driver for the same, the windows driver will take over and then i guess it will work fine. I figure its a driver issue or a TSR program not quitting. If this fails try uninstalling recently addes program or driver.
