Item "2." worked for me. On a C4100 with the same "sudden for no reason" no scan or copy issue. I assumed the instruction, sreenu-ysr, meant to leave the plug (power socket) left in and the USB plug to the printer to be taken out and re-inserted during the hold OK and Cancel simultaneously. Well, that's worked for me :)

I'd looked at a registry amendment, which didn't seem to apply according to what my registry showed, and a reinstall of the disk seemed to make no difference. How wonderful that your solution seems to have worked (for me at least). I thank you. If there was a "bowdown" or "round of applause" smiley, I'd happily use it :)

SOURCE: Scanner Failure

Scanner failure means the scanner is not making enough light to see the home position. It happens when the scanner lamp ages or is covered with dust. Cycle power is just power off and on again, and see if it goes away.

Scanner Failure Cycle Power and try scanning again. I have changed both cartage but the problem is same. Plz tell me factual position of the problem and its remedy. Umar Hayat

Scanner doesn't require a good cartridge, just a compatible one. Problem is software. Uninstall the software for it and do a clean install. I assume that you are speaking about a printer/copier/scanner for your computer.

My HP Photosmart C5240 will print from computer but will not scan or make copies.

Is there any error message displayed on the control panel of the printer just like one of the following:
Scanner failure, power off and on
Scanner System Failure
Scanner failed, cannot make copies or fax
Scanner failure. Unable to scan, copy, or send a fax
Scanner failure, cycle power

You may want to try following these steps:
1. Check if the scanner light does turn on when you initiated the scanning process, if not you need to reset the product.
2. Try using your other electrical outlet because your AVR or Surge Extension may not be providing enough voltage for the printer.
3. Try using dirty cycle, meaning you need to directly cut the power of your printer by pulling of the power cord from the rear side of your printer and wait for about 30 seconds before inserting again and turn it on.

If all these steps do not improve your printer functionality, you may want to call the HP online help and ask for replacement.

Calypso washer stops/runs every 5 - 30 seconds in the middle of any washing cycle. No error codes. It just stops and than runs again all the time and cannot finish any washing cycle. It is 8 years...

I had the same problem. The washer control board has an intermittent failure. If you unplug power for about 30 minutes then plug it back in you will get a PF code (power failure). Ignore this code and push start again. It may run till it finishes the cycle or it may start cycling again right away. A new board costs about $180 at repairclinic.com

The error message says "cycle power try scanning again". What should I do?

To "cycle power" means to first turn the printer off, and then to turn the printer on.

To "try scanning again" should be self-explanatory.
