switch of your pc first this is very important
take a paper clip unfold it and make it straight now in your dvd drive there will be a small hole put this paper clip into in it and push the clip you will feel some resistance to it push it .it opens
slighly . now pull it with your hands. this is manual open.this worked in my pc

When I looked up this drive, I found an internal drive. Do you have it in an enclosure or one of the IDE/SATA - USB quick connection tools?

You do need power to the drive. If your enclosure or IDE/SATA-USB connection has an option for taking up 2 USB ports, you can get that power from the computer. It's usually better to use a power adapter even when you can use the 2 ports. (There's less demand on the laptop and it's less likely to burn out the USB ports.)

If this is an external version of that drive from the manufacturer, you still need the power adapter.

I hope this helps.

(who once didn't get an internal drive connected fully to the cables. In that case I had power but not recognition.)

Yes. Check specifications page for power requirements. Hope this helps. You will need to install DjVu to view user guide.

Hello, Yes it should have a power if you have a connection for that, but if the computer finds it, it should work with only usb but sometimes the USB power isnt enough. try to rightclick on your cdrom in windows and choose eject, what happends?

no it doesnt require any dc wire but check whether the green led light glows when pressing the button. if it glows take a safety pin and ***** it in below the drive tray there is a hole and u see that the tray comes out and then it works fine
