If your model number is the Profile/Artica PSS26 model the most likely reason for this is a burned out defrost heater. Look into back of the freezer and tell me if a layer of frost is building up on the rear wall of the freezer compartment. If yes then unplug and remove the rear panel in the back of the freezer to expose the evaporator coil. If frosted over then you need to defrost with a hair dryer or leave a bucket of hot water in the freezer compartment until the ice melts away. Sometimes the defrost drain is frozen over and then the beginning of the frost becomes heavy quickly and temperatures begin to increase in both sides of your side by side. Lately I seem to be here and ge no response from anyone. I want you to a the least let me know if you need my help to resolve this. Sometimes the main control board causes this but not as likely as the defrost thermostat and defrost heater. Sea Breeze

If you have more questions or need help feel free to let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

    Here is a Profile manual,
If the defrost heater part number WR51X10042 Defrost Heater is burned out it will be easy to see because it has a glass tube around the heating element inside. There will be smoke marks on the glass, You should also change the defrost thermostat part number WR50X10054 If no problem with these 2 parts we then will need to have a look at the main control board for burn marks on both sides. Thanks, Hope by now you have found the answer, Sea Breeze

    WR50X10054 Defrost Thermostat

    WR51X10042 Defrost Heater

    WR55X10942 Main Control Board

The Numbers change depending on the model profile that you have and if your model is not a Profile/Artica then the number are completely different. If this information does not help you the good luck with your project and the information here may help someone else, Thanks, Sea breeze

Thank you very much for the rate! I'm surprised sometimes when I do get a rate. Seems like something is wrong with the system here or the customer never gets notified that there was a possible solution. Please make sure you have your model number correct because there are about 39 models similar to the PSS26MG and I have yet to find a PSS26MRSS model number. The manual does not list the 26 cubic feet models but all of the Artica/Profile models are basically the same in many ways. Again Thank You, Sea Breeze

I had a similar problem with my GE PSS26MGPA WW in that it would run continuously for hours. My wife had left the house for a few hours and returned home to find the freezer door cracked open just slightly. Based upon your advice I emptied the freezer, took off the back pannel, and found the evaporator coil covered in ice. 10 min with the hair dryer and it was all gone. Seems to be working great now. we'll just make sure we keep the freezer door closed...

If up push the button it tells you the set temperature . Push it twice and it will go into the set mode and then use the warmer or colder buttons to change the temperature. Do the same for the refrigerator

On my GE GTH21SCXSS, top freezer bottom refer, the freezer and refrigerator settings are on the coldest settings and the freezer won't go below 15 degrees and the refer won't go below 43 degre

Do you see any ice buildup on the back panel of the freezer? You may need to remove the back panel to see if the coils are iced over. Post back your results.

Ice cream has to be colder than 0 degrees C /32 degrees F. You need a cheap thermometer If your Ice maker Ice is not sweating in the bin, -10 degrees F ice stops sweating. you need not to sweat the freezer untill your cheap freezer thermometer can be compared to -10 degrees F

Hotpoint fridge freezer freezer ok but fridge not working temp is always 21 degrees tried to set to 4 degrees but just keeps going to 21 freezer is fine -22 degrees

Merv -

Most manufacturer's fridges are designed for 34 degrees F in the fresh food compartment and 0 degrees F in the freezer compartment. Setting the fresh food compartment to a value lower than 32 degrees will freeze any moisture in foods, fruits and vegetables and freeze water in juices and other beverages resulting in broken containers, exploding cans, etc.

What you need is another freezer. Trying to convert a refrigerator into a freezer is going to be very difficult - especially without ruining it.

Good luck!

The lower part of my refrigerator is freezing everything (temp. approx. 30 degrees). The upper part of the refrigerator is almost 45 degrees.

it is possible that the circulating fan is knacked. cold air drops so the bottom of your fridge so will be alot colder than the top, especially since the air will no longer be circulating.

Freezer works great, but fridg. will not get below 50

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.

Kitchenaid built-in refrig 15 yrs old cold freezer, warm fridge

it.s the frezer that makes the refer cold.the evap fan in the frezer moves that chilled air to the refer.if that fan is slow or any blockage inthe air ways it slows that process. Also the frezer should be close to 0 degrees if theres a defrost prob that would make fresh food warmer
