Icom 756 CI-V computer interface Problem

My Icom 756 CI-V computer interface function stopped working. Rest of radio works fine. The feature did work up until a nearby lightning strike. I did loose some other gear but, once again, all other features of the radio work fine. I used to fix electronic gear, but many years ago. I would prefer to fix the radio myself, if possible. Is this easy to repair, difficult, or somewhere in between?

SOURCE: oven not working

There must have been a fault code that was not corrected, and therefore the feature is disabled.

Could try to press and hold setup key for 5 seconds.

How come my icom 756 pro did not transmitting on 8000 frequency

You have to modify this radio to operate outside of the HAM bands. You will likely find the modification at This is a pretty common and easy modification for HAM radios. Your performance may not be as good as in the HAM bands.

You do this MOD at your own risk. If you are not licensed for operation on ANY frequency or band, you are not legally allowed to transmit. Heavy fines may be levied against you.

Cannot transmitt

The Icom 756 Pro is a very expensive radio. If you bought one and it's not transmitting I really recommend taking it back. It could be anything from the mic, power supply, final transistors, board, anything really. It's going to need to be scoped and looked at in person.

How do I determent the value of resistors/s diode / capacitors ect...... There is no marking on the boards especial in this tiny tiny tiny ones on the Icom 756 radio thanking you in advance Edward Va

If there are no markings, the only way to determine what value they are is to unsolder them and test them. Actually surface mount components don't go bad that often, most likely capacitors, maybe some diodes. They usually do have numbers on them, maybe soldered down side up.

Configuring audiovox GMRS1072CH walkie talkie

With the issue of 240V if the charger has not a Voltage switch, you will need to find another charger/transformer with the same Voltage/Amps ouput that works with 240V.

For Vox operations, this feature works independly form channel, you should choose the channel# and code # first, to match both radios, and get them communicate, then the Vox feature.
In Some radios the VOX feature works with an external audio accesory, in other radios works with out it.
Basically if this radios works without it, you should see that the radio transmist by itself when you speak direct to the radio, and stops transmiting 1 or2 seconds after you stop talking.

Good Luck.
