Your problem is almost similar to mine but mine have an explorer.exe consumed my cpu a 100% usage that end up hanging. What I did is changed my explorer.exe to xplorer2.You can download a freeware for this at this link http://www.zabkat.com/x2lite.htm but the Pro version works best.Just be sure that it is your default file manager to avoid hanging up again.Hope this will help you.

I am not really sure if this caused by the fan performance, but I can confirm that my laptop dell inspiron 1420 is very hot after running about 1 hours.. and often my CPU usage reach 100% when I use Vista...

First, I appreciate the details provided in your question. Thanks!
The specification of your laptop are fine and enough to run and support Vista. It is true that greater number of processes and CPU usage causes, but normally the machine can handle it well if it gets proper ventilation.
Laptop heating issue generally occurs due to fan failure, which may damage the system, if not checked properly. Another cause of overheating is the dust present inside the laptop, which clogs the fan and heatsink. I suggest that you should get you laptop checked by a professional for servicing (if required). I believe immediate action is required to prevent any damage to your machine and data.

Hope it Helps! Let me know if i could be of any further assistance.

Im trying to make a pivot version 2 animation a Gif but before it finishes it says out of memory and i have 4.77gb left in my memory

whats 4.77gb? a space of your hardrive or 4.77gb of RAM? check the requirements of the application if does match more than your specs of your CPU then try adding your virtual memory by go to system properties (right click on my computer and go properties) at the advanced tab, performance-settings, advanced tab, click change on virtual memory like 4096 for minimum and maximum and/or reinstalling the application.check on the task manager at the performance tab check your memory usage when using that application if your memory usage tops at 80%-100% you should end the process of other applications and background services that are not needed to run.if this not helps find a computer which is the same as your computer i mean same SPECIFICATION and install your application if that worked on the other computer then you have a problem with your Operating System...

Procesor usage upto 55% wen having opend single window

could point to both hardware and software issues..
but first check software issues. can be due to virus/spyware running.. check taskmanger and lists the processes by cpu % ... this will give you the process which is gobbling up the cpu cycles. make note of the file and track it down in hard disk. you will then have to research what it is for.

if you have a antivirus installled it may be possible that it is virus scanning the disc.

hope this helps

Dual boot vista/XP on dell studio 1737, drivers needed ?

For the video drivers you might try the intel generic drivers for xp these should work here is the process.

For the audio use the latest vista driver and then follow the steps here.

The latest driver in combination with f you are using Microsoft Windows XP*, you may need to first install KB888111.exe, the Microsoft* UAA High Definition Audio Package version 1.0a. should work.
