There should be circuit designations printed on the PC board. Without those, there are too many possibilities to give you anything useful. Can you provide those please?

Cd loads but motor don't engage

In some cases the linking flexible cord for the motor drive can be open/torn and so the motor will not work. Since the panle moves all the times this cord being flexible can breaks off in a period of time. So look carefully after opening the top panel and if this is confirmed then the wires can be looped to work.
Check the motor using an external voltage , check continuity of the cord. If not the drive or the output to the drive IC is absent.

I have a Xemix 5006DD and after a power peak in my home it cannot power up anymore. Thought it could be the 2,5 A fuse in the power supply but I measure it with my multimeter and it is ok. I disconnect...

Simple answer: blown power supply - any one of a number of components within this area could be affected; IC regulators could be short-circuit or destroyed as a result of the surge, resistors could be open circuit, diodes could be short-circuit and electrolytic capacitors could also have leaked/burst open. Even the optocoupler could also be damaged, and if the supply uses transistors, these too could have suffered short-circuit or internal leakage.

It's easy to tell if a power supply has been severely damaged by a surge - there will be numerous scorch-marks on the board around some of the parts, some parts including resistors will be broken, some electrolytic capacitors may have exploded.

To put it simply, you're better off sending it to a repair shop - obtain a free quote if possible, then make a decision yourself afterwards as to whether or not you think it's worth going ahead and getting it fixed by them. Up to you.

Switchmode power supplies in any appliance are complicated beasts to work with, and quite often tend to develop weird behaviour. The cost of the repair depends largely on the extent of the damage caused by your power surge, and how many parts were affected by it.

I have a Sony VAIO VGC-RB43 desktop with a Bestec ATX-300-12EB3-Rev.S3 power supply. The computer will not power up. The fans will not come on. Measuring DC volts on pin 9 (purple) of the mother board ATX...

Open the power supply case (be careful due to high voltages within the power supply) and look for swollen (tops are domed) or burst capacitors (tops have cracked open due to excessive swelling and the electrolitic fluid has leaked out). We have found this to be a regular problem for systems that have been running constantly for a long period of time. Also, look at the power caps on your mainboard (big ones nearest the CPU) and check for swelling or bursting. I just had tis issue with a Sony Vaio in that the caps in the power supply had started to swell. The system continually rebooted. Have seen the caps on MB's burst as well.

My Pioneer CLD-990 only plays through one side of

One of the common causes is a small crack in the ribbon cable that connects the optics assembly to the PC board. This cable is moved all the time when the optics move and when the assembly turns over. This is not a repair I would recommend to a novice. The cable is still available last time I checked and is simple to replace for anyone that has worked on these before. The tray must be removed to do this and it is tricky to re-align properly. I think the cable runs between $20-$30.
