Question about Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

I bought a new battery because my car kept having to be jumped after it was turned off. Now that I have put the new battery in, the car starts fine but it kills whenever the car is idling (below 1000RPM). What on earth is the problem?

Thanks. I didnt know they did computer testing. Other auto places only test the starter, battery, and alternator. That helps

You have to check the computer codes in order to know what, if any, faults exist. Autozone will check your codes for free.

Aftermarket Alarms are the WORST... GM are among them too... Did you cross the Wires when you jumped started it? Did you put both Cables on the Battery or did you Ground the Car with one of them and the Positive on the Battery?
If you jump started it wrong, you could have caused a problem with your ECU (Engine Control Unit), PCM (Powertrain Control Module), or BCM (Body Control Module) which if this is a Dodge, it probably the problem.

If this is a After Market System, have it Professionally Removed.

2006 Chevy Cobalt power dying with new battery in it, is it the starter?

If the car died while you where driving it, it sounds like it is the alternator. Did it start right up or did you have to boost it? If you had to boost it to start it again,I would say it is the alt., but if it started right away w/o a boost, it is something else.

Hi, new battery sounds faulty, try jumping it again and if it starts ok its the battery, if not the solenoid may be faulty. Hope this helps, regards Phil.

1990 JEEP Cherokee that won't start even after a new battery

It sounds kind of like you have bad alternator. The alternator uses the engines power to recharge the battery. When you replaced the battery the car ran off battery power untill it died. If the car will run while hooked up to another car while being jump started then the problem is deffinetely the alternator..

Please give a good rating, it is very importat to us..
