Hello,

Which R4i you have will determine what you can do. If you have the R4i Gold, then I'm sorry to tell you, there's no workaround for DSi 1.4. If you have R4i SDHC (redbox) then you can get the latest firmware to make it work again. The fix is easy, no flashing or danger to your card or DSi.

There's a great tutorial to set it up on http://www.dscardworld.com with pictures and links to all the official software on their support page.

If you need to upgrade to a DSi v1.4 compatible card you can get a genuine cards there too. All their DSi compatible cards are clearly labeled. I managed to find this site after I got burned at a few others. Loved having my emails responded to because I had loads of questions, and they were quick to ship it.

Best of luck!

I'll second the M3i Zero as it's probably the best card out there. You can pick it up at reputable vendors like www.dealextreme.com and http://www.dscardworld.com

Probaly you've done a firmware update on your Nintendo DSi and have updated it to firmware version 1.4.
Nintendo implemended a new feature in this firmware that blocks most comon flash card adaptors like the R4i.
This means you'll have to buy a new flash card adaptor that is not blocked by the latest Nintendo DSi firmware.

Use one of these Flash adaptors:
Hyper-R4i, Acekard 2i, R4i Gold,
M3i Zero, Ez Flash Vi.

These adaptors have flashable rom, meaning when Nintendo blocks them again, that these adaptors need to be reflashed to bypass the protection build in by Nintendo.
You don't have to throw them away.

I'm currently using the Hyper-R4i.
Note that this adaptor needs to be update first before you ever start thinking about to install the newest firmware on your DSi, becouse you
need to use a Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DS to
update its firmware.

The M3i Zero is a better choice for some poeple because it uses a pc with a usb cable to update it's firmware.

R4i and Acekard are decent cards, but I've had personal good luck with M3i Zero. The M3 team has been a consistent performer and I've never had problems with it.

If you own the R4i SDHC then you just need to get a new menu kernal update. Check out the shop I got my iEdge from, I think they have the update on their download page. http://www.dscardworld.com

System date error\r\n

Hi,

This kind of error is caused by a software incompatibility to continue to function when the dates on the Nintendo DS/DSi were set differently than the files on the Micro-SD card. This problem could have arisen when a user transferred a .SAV file from a DS with a different date, or the DS ran out of battery. In most cases, setting the date back a few days temporarily will solve the problem and in some cases up to a month was required!.The software from NDS-Gear, which can be downloaded in R4i Software Downloads page, is a permanent fix to the issue for the R4i SDHC card!
This software will NOT work for FAKE R4i SDHC cards (i.e. the ones from r4isdhc.com as opposed to r4i-sdhc.com).

Thank you !!

My ds lite has: "system date error" how do i fix

Hi there,

Let us investigate in this matter and try to resolve it.

Since the 10th of April, 2010, some users of the Nintendo DS and DSi and the R4i SDHC card have experienced an error that stops the DS card / DSi card from being used. The error contains the message “Loading… System date error! Please check NDS system date” when a user turns on their Nintendo DS, Nintendo DS Lite, Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL console.
The reason of this error seems to be an incompatibility between the actual system date on the Nintendo DS console and the R4i SDHC card. This is possible of the Nintendo DS was played until it lost all power, or if the memory card within the R4i SDHC was formatted incorrectly. It can also be attributed to the date simply being incorrectly calibrated. In some situations, transferring a .SAV file from another Nintendo DS that has a different system date on it, can also trigger the problem. It currently seems to be that the problem only manifested itself after the 10th of April, 2010. While the team behind the R4i SDHC are working on a fix to be a future part of a software update, consumers are advised to go into their Nintendo DS system settings and set the date back until the R4i SDHC card can continue to function as normal. In some cases, setting the date back up to a month is required to temporarily solve the problem.
google_protectAndRun("ads_core.google_render_ad", google_handleError, google_render_ad); Until a software solution is found, the R4i SDHC team would suggest consumers keep their dates wound back. To hear the latest about what solutions, both temporary and permanent, please visit the blog on http://www.dscardworld.com where solutions will be tested before presented to the public.
Hope that works.

I have not used my DS for a while and now when I switch it on with the SDHC card in a mesage is revealed reading: system date error please check NDS system

Yesterday (31/April) I was doing a Google search on the R4i "System Date Error" problem and found the solution! Check out this blog post:

http://www.nds-gear.co.uk/blog/2010/05/nds-gear-solves-r4i-sdhc-system-date-error-problem/

Follow the instructions and use their software (for genuine R4i-SDHC cards only of course) and problem should be solved! Worked for me on a regular DSi console with the original R4i SDHC card, 4GB memory.

I have a dsi with an r4i card. was working fine, now it wont load with message saying system date error!please check nds system date. can anyone help?

Fastest way is to change your system date. I got an r5i rev. and got today the same prob. I put the card out set the system date to the 01,12,2000 and working again. Its the fastest way to solve but when the date comes again on it will do the same again. What i understand it has something to do with the 1.2v from kernel. I´m searching now for my one for the 1.18v kernel. What i read it has to work fine with that.
