There is not much you can do, apart ensuring that the problem is not just temporary, and that cover is well closed, and eventually calling Xerox in case the error does not clear.
First unplug the copier power cord.
While copier is off try opening a closing the cover, eventually blow the cover with air and ensure there is no fragment of paper or foreign object in there.
If the problem is still there on startup, then cover sensor or wiring may be faulty. In that case ring Xerox using the number listed on copier codumentation.
