Question about Cell Phones

1 Answer

I am in the UK and on a Simplicity Contract with O2. I have a SciPhone i68. Phone details as follows:- Version = PX-XS2501-DT-ZXTONG-SBO-MX-20090311. Branch = Gemini. Build = Builds_No Serial = 072501MT01234567890125474510 Build Time = 23/06/2009 00.07hrs I need to set up my MMS please. I have spoken to O2 and they say that once my phone is set up properly ( they don't support the i68) then I can send and receive MMS's. I have set up the GPRS and these are the WAP settings I have used :- APN = wap.02.co.uk USER = o2wap PASSWORD = password HOMEPAGE = http://wap.02.co.uk PROXY = 193.113.200.195 PORT = 9201 I can get onto the internet but it's when I try to use MMS that it all goes wrong - the common message is "GPRS is not subscribed" I am however getting messages saying that I have received a MMS, but when I try to download the message, again it just tells me "GPRS is not subscribed". I have also tried to send messages but the send screen says " Failed to send message". Is there anything I have not set up properly and if so, can you help me with a 'step by step' set of instructions please? Thanks, Graham

    Hi, Nandi,
I followed your advice and texted O2 and received the message "Unfortunately we had problems dealing with your request fro settings. Please contact Customer Service."
Customer Service asked the make of phone and stated it is not a supported model sorry we can't help you, try the manufacturer !! I have treid many suggestions offered on the net even trying to get the Nokia 2610 settings which are supposed to be the same but Nokia also said no downloads anymore contact Customer Service. I also tried for the Sony Erikson W810i which again has the same settings but received a text which apparently works with an inbuilt wizard on the W801i only.
I have now got the WAP set up and can get on the Internet through O2, but my MMS will not work at all. I get messages telling me I have an MMS, but when I try to download it it fails. This also applies to sending an MMS.
Any ideas on how to enliven my MMS feature on my i68 ?
    In hope.
    G

I think they should activate the GPRS from their end. Call o2 to activate it for your phone. You could try updating the MMS settings yourself, just send a text with the word ACTIVE to 2020 (it's free) and O2 send the latest GPRS & MMS settings to your mobile. Thank you Sir, I hope I helped you.

Sir, if the customer care is telling that it is not a supported model means you can't use MMS on the phone you have. I'm very Sorry to say Graham but to receive MMS you have to buy a new phone that avails MMS. I'm very sorry to say it. Hope you will not get distressed by my comments.

I9 wap/gprs & mms settings for O2

First you have to make 2 data accounts,
1 for wap,
1 for mms.
Press service,
Data account,
GPRS, ok,
Pick any one of the settings because you are going to change it,
Press edit.
account name edit to O2 WAP GPRS,
APN to payandgo.o2.co.uk,
user name to payandgo,
password is password,
authentication type normal,
after each one if done is the option press it. this is the setting for wap internet.

You have to do the same again to make a new data account for the mms. the settings for this is
account name O2MMS,
APN payandgo.o2.co.uk,
user name payandgo all others same as before.

Now you have 2 new data accounts you need to set up wap.
press service, wap, settings, edit profile, sim 1 or 2 which ever you are using,
select the O2 WAP GPRS account that was made earlier,
press ok. press edit profile,
rename profile is ok it is O2 WAP GPRS,
edit home page to http//wap.o2.co.uk,
set data account to O2 WAP GPRS,
connection type wap, IP address 193,113,200,195
user name payandgo,
password is password,
press back and activate profile.
you should be able to get on to o2 homepage now.

To get mms
press text, mms, mms settings, server profile, sim which ever you are using 1 or 2 ,
select the O2 MMS made earlier, edit profile, rename profile is 0k should be O2 MMS, home page is http//mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002,
data account is the O2 MMS you made before,
connection type wap,
MMS IP address 193,113,200,195
user name payandgo,
password is password,
select back when all settings are entered and select activate profile. this should be it.
This works OK for me.
