Question about Brother MFC 6490CW InkJet Printer
When I had Windows 7 32 Bit installed on the computer, I was able to properly install the MFC 490's driver suite without any trouble, was able to check everything on the computer. When I upgraded to the 64 bit windows, I was unable to use the disk, and the printer no longer appears in a printer list when you try to set up wireless printing with the bundled software. However Windows 7 does find the printer, and I can print (but I can't check ink levels on the computer), I also had to trick the software into recognizing the scanner (the control center [software] still can't find the printer, in spite of the printer being installed and working elsewhere) but I would prefer to have it all working properly, within the control center, where I can actually check ink levels, and where it actually displays printer status. I have seen similar problems on here for other models, but so far no solutions. Please help!
I have a similar problem except it said it does not contain drivers for your computer operating system. I updated the drivers on brothers solution center, it said decompession successful and everything but still the same thing. what should i do?

I can't install my Brother MFC6490CW printer onto my laptop which has windows 7. At the setup stage an error message 0X00000704 unkown port appears. I have turned off my AVG anti-virous and my windows firewall. I have installed the printer onto my PC which has XP.

Visit the Brother website
See if you can find an updated driver for your 64 bit Operating system . Download it and save it to your desktop. Remove the old driver then install the updated one this should fix the problem. But if you can't find an updated driver, contact Brother.

If you want to make it online, than make sure it is on and connected to your computer, Once you are sure about this than
Go to control panel than Printers and Faxes
