As far I understand your are surfing through your Hard Drive and you find some files word/ pdf you want to open, but when you double click on them you cannot open them.

You can try this:

Find the file you want to open, highlight it, right click on your mouse and select properties, there it is to tabs, select the first one, and the first feature on the tab is "what program you should use to open the file with" and near there is a button marked "chance/edit" there you find the program you want to use (word or adobe reader) and check the mark remember my answer and select apply/OK.

You can also try this : How to associate a file with a program in Windows

Somehow the file associations, for the file types mentioned, have been altered. To verify this, and begin reassociating the file types with the correct program, do the following:
1. Open the Control Panel
2. Double click Folder Options
3. Click on the File Type tab
4. Click on the extension column to sort alphabetically.

These are the extensions for various Word 2007 files:
docx, docm, dotm, dotx

Make sure they are associated with MS Word 2007. If you have an older version of MS Word, check for a compatibility patch throug Microsoft's website.

The easiest thing to do is to reinstall Word and Acrobat. If that doesn't fix it, try a reputable registry repair utility. It that still doesn't work, things could get complicated. But, let's take one step at a time. Please let us know how it goes. Good luck.

I got MS office 2007 uninstalled and MS office 2003 installed now word documents doxc ,Wps files do not open .How to recover them?

To open Microsoft Office Word 2007 .docx or .docm files with Microsoft Office Word 2003, you need to install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for 2007 Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint File Formats and any necessary Office updates. By using the Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system, you can open, edit some items, and save Office Word 2007 documents in previous versions of Word.

In which we can open .docx files

You can open docx extension files only with MS Office 2007. If you wish to open it in earlier versions you have to save it again in compatible mode. Click on File (top left most corner with the logo), Save As, Word 97-2003 Document. Just using Save option will save your document as "docx" and not "doc" document.

I cannot print my documents even if there is Microsoft Office Document Imaging?

hi,
open Microsoft Office Document Imaging then opened the Tools menu, then
Options. In the Options window, select the "Other" tab and clicked on the "Reset" button under Default Program.

Then, close Microsoft Office Document Imaging and open windows explorer, navigated to an "*.MDI" file, right clicked it and chose "open with" "choose a program" then browse to the Microsoft Office Document Imaging executable found in the Office folder (don't remember the exact location) and select that executable to open *.MDI files and check the box "always use this program to open this file type".

Now, finally, the "File" menu in Microsoft Office Document Imaging will work

I received an email with an html attachment, when I tried to open the document in outlook 2007, all of the contents in the document is not showing.

The sender did something wrong, because Outlook can read html without problems. Try to go to the page itself, if you can find the link, or try to open the html attachment in Internet Explorer. (Right-clik > Open with... > Internet Explorer.)

Acer e-mail and encrytion problems

OTHER computers can only open Office documents if they also have the same version of office or a HIGHER (newer) version (backward compatibilitiy)
Office 2007 doc can open ONLY with Office 2007.
Both computers must have Office 2007.

But if you have Office 2007 you can open any OLDER Office doc (Office 2003, Office XP, etc.)
If much older, (Office 95 or earlyier) there is a conversion program to open the older version with a newer version.
