Question about Brother MFC 6490CW InkJet Printer

Open Question

My mfc6490cw keeps jumping on and off my wireless network. The log shows this, anad the status icon shows it also. On the printerdisplay however, there seems to be no problems. And sometimes when it´s perfectly connected, it will not print, sometimes it will... Does anyone else experience this? Could it be my wireless Router (Billion bipac 5200gr3) that causes the problem?

Cannot accress WiFi on Sylvania SYBET7WIC-BK-Z

The Sylvania Netbook is an inexpensive 7-inch device that is convenient for accessing the Internet on public or private Wi-Fi networks. It is not intended to replace a regular computer for daily tasks; its purpose is to provide a lightweight unit to access social media and perform small tasks. The netbook defaults to mobile websites, but it does a good job at what it is intended to do. Connecting to Wi-Fi networks with your Sylvania Netbook requires configuring the device properly.

Boot up the Sylvania Netbook by pushing the manual switch below the screen. Push the F9 key to turn on the Wi-Fi on the device. Select the little wireless icon in the toolbar at the bottom; it looks like a small computer. Choose the "Wireless Information" tab. This will show the online status of the device, as in whether it has connected to the Internet. If you have checked the box beside this option, this tab also notifies you when new networks are available. If the status shows that you have connected. You may need to add your wireless router manually in the setup. Do this by choosing, "Add New." Obtain the necessary setup information from your wireless Internet provider. If you have an encrypted network, you will need to fill in that information about your router. To configure the wireless setup further, click on the name of the wireless network. Click on "Advanced Settings" and adjust your connection choices; this tab determines the order of connection if there is more than one network available. Another important setting on this tab is the "Allow Windows to configure my wireless settings" option. Check that box. Click the "Internet Explorer" icon on the desktop. If you are online, you will pull up the Google homepage. Hope this helps.

I have a wireless connection but cannot open the browser. Another computer (laptop) is connecting fine on the same wireless.

If the Wireless Network Connection icon is at the bottom right of your Taskbar and has a red x, then right-click on the icon to bring up a pop-up window and in that window, left-click on View Available Wireless Networks. This will open a Wireless Network Connection window which will allow you to Choose a wireless network. If the window has the message "No wireless networks were found in range", then you will need to slide the spring-loaded switch at the right-front the netbook to the right momentarily and the message "Wireless LAN Enabled" should show in large green letters at the bottom of the screen. Then in the Wireless Network Connection window, left-click on "Refresh network list" item under Network Tasks. In about 10 seconds, a list of the wireless networks will be displayed which should include the name of your wireless access point (wireless router). Left-clicking on that list item will high-light it in blue. Now click on the connect button at the bottom-right of the window. If the list item has a lock symbol, a Wireless Network Connection pop-up will now show to ask you to "Type the key" otherwise for an unsecured or open access point, a connection should automatically occur without having to type any key. The Wireless Network Connection icon in the Taskbar should no longer have the red x and hovering the mouse cursor over it will show the Wireless Network Connection status. Hopefully, if this procedure has solved your problem, you should consider securing your access point to prevent unauthorized access of it. After securing, you will need to refresh the network list and then do a re-connect.

When I double click on the Wireless icon and try to connect to my wireless router, the network card tries to "acquire a network address" but the speed jumps from 65.0 Mbps to 150.0 Mbps and back...

Hi

Silly question but have you had to put in a password code or serial no at all ????

or

try this

go to the wireless icon on your taskbar bottom right
click on it to open the box that says wireless network connection status
go to bottom left of that box and click properties
now go up to wireless networks
now click on the name of your router that it is having problems connecting to
right click on it and go down to remove it
now close the two boxes that are now on your desktop
and in a few seconds windows will show you a small box by the wireless icon in taskbar bottom left of your screen telling you that wireless connections are available
open the box again go to the name of your router click on it and go down to connect
hopefully this will fix it

i hope so

good luck

My wireless adaptor can not find my wireless router

Please check tour wireless adapter if its working and properly installed in your computer. Here's how to do it;

Checking Device Status on the Device Manager

For Windows 2000 or XP:

1. Click on Start, go to Settings and then Control Panel.
2. Click on System, go to Hardware and then Device Manager.
3. Click the (+) sign on Network Adapters and select the adapter.
4. Double click on it and read the Device Status.

If your wireless adapter is not working and installed properly, you have to re-install the wireless adapter software driver. When the wireless adapter is already properly installed you can follow this steps below;

Enabling Wireless Zero Configuration Utility

1. Please click on Start, Run and type in services.msc and click on OK.
2. Scroll down and look for Wireless Zero Configuration. Right click on it and click on Start.
3. Right click on Wireless Zero Configuration again and click on Properties.
4. Under the General tab, set the Start up Type to Automatic and Service Status to Started. Then, click on Apply and OK.

Connecting Through Wireless Zero Configuration (Windows XP SP1 and SP2)

For Windows XP Service Pack 1:

1. Please right click on the Wireless icon on the right lower end portion of your computer. Then, click on View Available Wireless Networks.
2. Click on the Advanced tab.
3. Please delete all the preferred networks then click on OK.
4. Right click on the Wireless icon again and click on View Available Wireless Networks.
5. Please select your network and click on Connect. If you have Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) or Wi-fi Protected Access (WPA) enabled on the router, it will ask you for the network key. Please type in the Network Key and then confirm it.
6. Make sure not to enable IEEE and then click on Connect.

For Windows XP Service Pack 2:

1. Please right click on the Wireless icon on the right lower end portion of your computer. Then, click on View Available Wireless Networks.
2. Click on the Change Advanced Settings.
3. Click on the Wireless Networks tab remove all the preferred networks then click on OK.
4. Right click on the Wireless icon then click on View Available Wireless Networks.
5. Select your network and click on Connect.
6. If you have Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) or Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) enabled on the router, it will ask you for the network key. Type in the network key and confirm it. Then click on Connect.

Note: You may use the wireless utility of your wireless adapter in connecting to the wireless network but you need to clear "Use Windows to configure my wireless networks" on the Wireless Networks tab.

Connecting to a Wireless Network on Windows Vista:

a. Click Start then select Connect To.
b. Connect to a network window will show up.
c. Select your wireless network's name or SSID and click Connect.
d. It will ask you for a network key. Type in your wireless network key on the field provided. Then, click on Connect.

The wireless icon has vanished on my acer aspire one netbook and i cant get online

Go to Start/Settings/Network Connections. When the window opens right click on the Wireless Network Icon and select Properties. In XP there should be a check box to allow display of notification when connected. If some other OS, hold the right button down on the Icon and drag it to the task bar. It should drop an icon for showing the status.
Before doing all of this, is there an arrow to the left of the icons? If so, click on it see if the Icon is simply hidden.

Wireless connection

Some ideas...

I found that sometimes I have to "disable" the wireless service, and then "re-enable" wireless before it will show available wireless connections.

After that, just use your normal connection settings - passwords, security type, etc.

As well, at times, if I use the "Wireless Connections" Icon in the "Internet" page to log in, I have to re-type the password in. If I use the "Network Connections" icon in the toolbar at bottom, it seems to remember my password and logs in faster.

Linux quirks? I dunno. Hope this helps.
