There may be a switch on the back of the TV that chooses whether to output video to the component connections or the RCA/S-Video connections.

RCA cables - red, yellow, white
S-Video - single cord (usually black)
Component Video Cables - red, green, blue

Is the tv shot or just a bulb? it went out suddenly

Standard CRT televisions as in your category don't have a 'bulb' they have a CRT, a Cathode Ray Tube. If there was sound and no picture, something was defective in the video part of the circuitry, now no sound, so something else has blown. 2004, 11 years old, old technology, and HEAVY and bulky. Technology has moved on, and you will be surprised how much. We went from 36" CRT to Samsung 50" Smart TV. HUGE difference! Treat yourself :>)

Has sound but shows no picture

These types of TVs eventually need to have the bulb replaced. There should be an access door marked on it somewhere. Google your tv brand and model to find a replacement bulb.

TV turns on, hear sound but no picture. Bulb isn't coming on. TV goes off after about 2-3 minutes. Bulb was just replaced 5 months ago.

Need the model number of the set and also if any lights on the TV come on or blink when the picture goes out or not.

I have sound but no picture, only a black screen.

I have one question for you; Have you ever changed the lamp/bulb of your TV?

This problem looks more or less like a lamp/bulb problem, this is why i am asking when last you changed the bulb.

Another cause of the problem could be a defective picture board. Connect the TV to a DVD player to be sure if problem is simply not just from the cord.

One of these certainly has to be the cause of the problem.

Keep me posted and let me know howw far you have gone.

Yours sincerely.

The power/standby light blinks red 6 times on my Sony KF50WE610 and there is no picture. What does this error code mean?

Six blinks - No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206.

Et powers on, has jvc logo, has sound but no picture

Backlight is defective.
I suggest placing it on Ebay and using profits to get a new TV.

Backlight replacement is possible, but the bulbs are unavailable so it would be required to purchase similar model from ebay to get them. There are other methods but this is the easiest.

Problem with Toshiba DLP Projection TV Model #52HM84

It is possible the lamps may be defective or that they may be the wrong replacement for this model, as it may have a different wattage setup with the ballast. If you want to try to order the TB25 lamp from a different vendor, you can order the original Toshiba replacement lamp for this model (52HM84) from a major Toshiba parts distributor at the link below:

Hey tosab,

If your TV has no picture but still can play sound, you could potentially be looking at a defective lamp/bulb, a blown fuse, or any number of other electrical failures. Generally the best tip-off if you have a defective lamp or a blown fuse is if you noticed an unusual "popping" or "snapping" noise when you were last using your TV and it was fully functional.

Depending on the model you have, you may be able to check for defective bulbs/fuses and replace them without having to contact a repair technician, but always remember check your owner's manual before attempting any kind of repair. Not all manufacturers will provide information on how to do so, and any repair performed by an unauthorized technician may potentially void any existing warranty coverage.

If you're still not quite sure how to proceed, I would strongly suggest contacting your local Toshiba-authorized service center for further assistance.

Hope this helps you out.
