Videos are not meant to be taken vertically.

Can anyone help? Im trying to upload a video from a iphone, video play full screen on its side, when i edit video i get black walls on both sides,

It depends on how you took the video, if you took the video with the phone in vertical (this is call vertical video) then when you upload the video it will be a vertical video. Try taking the video again but with the phone horizontally, this will fill the display even if you upload it to any website.

Rotate a clip
  1. Select the clip in the Timeline.
  2. In the Effects view, click the Edit Effects button.
  3. Expand the Motion effect in the Properties view, and do one of the following:
    • Drag the underlined value to the right of Rotation.

    • Click Rotate Left or Rotate Right to rotate the clip 90° in either direction.

For some reason, my video is a .mov file and when I try and import it into Windows Media Player to rotate my video, it says that file type is not supported. What can I do?

First of all, you can't rotate a video without some expensive software installed on your computer and even then, the results will be poor at best. Download Quicktime from Apple to play your video...it's a free download.

Video clip was taken rotated

You can't without some very expensive software...and even then, the quality of your video will degrade significantly. Always shoot horizontally.

I took a video with my finepix s5800 on vertical an now I cannot rotate it to watch it the "right way round" on my pc....please help, can I rotate it?

There is some very expensive video editing software that can accomplish this at some severe loss of quality but I can't imagine anyone spending that kind of money to turn a video. In the future, remember that videos are shot horizontally, not vertically.

CANON SD1000 can't TURN vertical downloaded video into horizontal

If you have windows movie maker (its part of the default installation of windows XP) you can use the rotate filter in the video effects tools.
Import your video into movie maker and select "Video Effects" under tools.  Scroll through the various effects until you find the "rotate 90".  Apply the effect and save the video.
I hope this helps!

How to rotate a video clip I took vertically??

Vista
Start - Programs - Windows Movie Maker
Click Import Media - select the video clip you want to rotate from your files and point and click on it to highlight it - then click the import button lower right corner of screen.
When the file name appears - drag the clip to the video line at the bottom of the screen - point at file name and hold down right mouse button while you move the mouse to point at the video timeline then let go of the right button to drop the video into the timeline.
Point and RIGHT click on the clip you just added to the timeline
Click Effects
Scroll down to Rotate 90 and click to highlight it (you could also flip the video with 180 or 270)
Click the ADD button
Then click OK
The video will rotate.
Be sure to publish and save the new video with a name you can find...
File - Publish Movie - to computer will save it as a file on your PC - to DVD will start another program to create a DVD...

Have Fun
