I think you need to command your laptop that is connected to wired internet connection to be "shared" its internet connection. Its usually on Lan settings. It should show the setting " Shared ". Then both laptop should have wireless communication or wireless USB adapter. Then connect it AD HOC, means communicating directly to each other.

More info is to read some 101 on internet connection sharing and adhoc connection. Usually some detailed info can be found on wireless router setup tutorial. Try Cisco wireless routers tutorial setup.

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!

Since you do not have a wireless router, we need to create an AD-HOC wireless LAN network. Microsoft provides a very detailed and step by step guide to configure AD-HOC.

You can share your Internet access by connecting your laptop with a non-wireless computer. First, you need to connect your laptop with the other computer by using a standard Ethernet cable.
You can then share your Internet connection. This is different for each version of Windows, as described in the following steps.

1) In Windows Vista, choose Control Panel from the Start menu, and then choose the Control Panel's Network Center icon. In Windows XP, choose Control Panel from the Start menu, and then choose the Control Panel's Network Connections icon; skip to Step 3.

2) In Windows Vista (only), on the left side of the window, click the link that says Manage Network Connections.

3) Right-click your laptop's Wireless Network Connection icon, the one you're using presently to get on the Internet.

4) Choose Properties from the pop-up menu .If you see a User Account Control warning in Windows Vista, click the Allow button.

5)In the network connection's Properties dialog box, click the Sharing tab.

6) Put a check mark by the box that says Allow Other Network Users to Connect through This Computer's Internet Connection.

I can only connect one laptop to the internet. When i turn on the second one it makes the first laptop loose its connection with the internet. My service provider says its the router. Can u help?

Hi! I think you have an IP conflict on your laptops. Do this: goto control panel and open the network section and put a fixed IP address for both the laptops, lats say: LapTop1: IP: 192.168.0.10 LapTop2: IP: 192.168.0.20
And put a DNS number in the same section where you put the IP numbers. The DNS number is the IP number of your router. WARNING! your router IP address must be in the same region as your laptops. Lats say Router IP: 192.168.0.1 than your DNS address on your laptops are 192.168.0.1.
Check in the router of some security restriction like how many users can be connected through WiFi connection, check for firewall enabled or disabled, if enabled try disable it and try to connect now.
I hope this solution will help to solve your problem.

Hi,
what is the wireless status in system tray? is it local or local and internet.
1. first check if it works fine with wire conection or not.
2.if it fine with cable then issue is with wireless. probably issue with Wireless security key.
3. go to available wireless networks and select the net work, if it is asking for wireless key please enter that. if you donot remember that perform router reset.that takes care of it.

I AM UNABLE TO ACCESS INTERNET THRU MY HYBRID APPLE MAC DESK TOP-

Go into network set up a shared Internet connection using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) You can use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) to share an Internet connection among two or more computers on a network. First, you need one computer, called the host computer, that is connected to the Internet and that has a separate connection to the other computers on your network. You enable ICS on the Internet connection. The other computers on your network then connect to the host computer, and from there to the Internet through the host computer's shared Internet connection.
If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings might prevent you from completing these steps.
On the host computer (the computer whose Internet connection you plan to share):
  1. ?id=microsoft.windows.resources.shellexecutetopiciconClick to open Network Connections.
  2. Right-click the connection that you want to share, and then click Properties.getcontent.aspx?assetid=18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b&documentset=en-us&renderkey=signed1 If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. Click the Sharing tab, and then select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection check box.

Problem using Wa1003A and Tew 432 brp to share my internet

lan wires are the same. lan wires used to connect your computer to your modem can also be used to connect your Wa1003A adsl router and TEW 432 brp.

you just got some things mixed up.

1. you should set your Wa1003A adsl router to bridge mode. At this point, it will just be "pass through" device and will not be the one who will ask for IP adds from your ISP.

2. configure your TEW 432 brp with your pppoe username and password. Your TEW 432 brp will now ask the network for the IP address to that it can connect to your ISP.

3. leave your lan wires the same.

Connecting Laptop wireless and Desktop wired to the router

Do you need to see the desktop or just share folders from each other? If the latter then you need to do the following:

Use Windows Explorer and select a folder you want to share. Right click and select sharing and security.

On the sharing tab click on Share this folder. Enter a share name ( I like to enter the PC name _folder name; Rick1_Downloads)

Click on Permissions. If your ok with everyone using the PC's and Laptops having access then highlight Everyone and click on Full Control.

Do this on each PC and Laptop.

That should be it or darned near close.
