Cant get to the filter on a Quiet Guard 2 Kenmore dishwasher

Pulled off the spray arm easily. Under that, a white disc secured by 8 torx screws. Pull that off and a spinning black flat hemisphere with a plastic bolt top and a small metal bolt top embedded in the middle of that I am stopped. I don't want to strip the large plastic nut outline or the small nut by twisting to hard. I have tried to turn the whole assembly but that failed to move and I didn't want to turn it to hard. Does anyone have an answer.

Thank you for your time,

Wont spin either way. The black flattened hemisphere is the only thing that turns. I tried holding the large nut with a wrench and turning the small nut with a ratchet.

Water is forced through the spray arms of a dishwasher by the unit's pump and motor assembly. The force of the water propels the spray arms, spraying water and detergent onto the dishes on the dishrack. Depending on your model, you may have only one spray arm located on the bottom of the dishwasher, or you may also have an upper spray arm located at the top of the unit above the upper dishrack. There may or may not also be a plastic tower extending from the center of the lower spray arm, whose purpose is to spray an additional blast of water at the dishes.
Remove the lower dishrack from the unit. If your dishwasher has a spray tower in the center of the spray arm, remove it now by unscrewing it with your hand. You should see a bolt in the center of the spray arm. Remove the bolt and then remove the lower spray arm by pulling up on it. If your particular spray arm is not held in place with a bolt, lift up on the spray arm to remove it from the unit. You may need to rock it back and forth a little to help ease the process.

Remove the lower dishrack from the unit. Reach into your dishwasher and spin the lower spray arm. Take note of whether or not the arm moves freely or if its movement is restricted. It should not be restricted in its path of motion. Now gently pull up on an end of the spray arm. The spray arm should be free to wobble up and down. Next carefully examine the spray arm seams. If they have split or are damaged, the dishes may not receive the amount of water pressure required to fully clean the dishes. What's more, if water is in fact spraying out of the spray arm from its seams, it is possible that it can cause your dishwasher to leak.
If your dishwasher has a spray tower, pull up on it as far as it will go and then let it fall back down. Again, this movement should not be restricted. It should be a fluid and smooth motion. Also, unscrew the spray tower and examine it for any debris or foreign objects. Remove any that you find.
Gain access to the upper spray arm by removing the upper dishrack. Perform the same tests for the upper spray arm as you just did for the lower spray arm. Keep in mind that the upper spray arm may not wobble as much as the lower spray arm.
On a final note, some dishwasher models have a water tube that meets up with the upper spray arm once the upper dishrack is pushed back. It is a good idea to check to make sure this tube is aligning properly with the upper spray arm.

I would suggest that you try turning the assy Anti Clockwise as some of the units are left hand threaded to prevent them working loose

Kenmore Dishwasher 665.15789300 not washing, but gets water

The chopper blade assembly with in the pump housing is either clogged or broken, to get to it, you must remove spray arm and remove screws from filter housing. These are size 20 torx, inside sump are 2 more screws size 15 torx, after these are removed you can clean out chopper or replace it.

I have a kenmore 665 dishwasher where the spary arms do not spin.

  • First, check water level. Start machine, wait until the machine begins main wash. Open the door, the water level should be just below the heater element. If too low replace inlet valve.
  • If you can't hear the wash motor running or is just humming, the motor may be bad.
  • To check if the food chopper is blocked or broken;
  1. Remove lower spray arm by holding the arm and rotating the spray arm retainer.
  2. In the back of the tub, unclip or remove the screw from the upper spray arm supply tube.
  3. Rotate the lower spray arm support to the right while disconnecting the supply tube from it.
  4. Remove the four torx screws from the sump cover, remove assembly.
  5. There may be a primary filter in the left side of the sump, if so, remove the torx screw and the filter.
  6. On the right side there is the chopper assembly cover. Remove the torx screw and cover to expose the chopper.

Hope everything goes well for you,

Regards

Richard

Where is the filter on a Kenmore Quiet Guard 2 dishwasher?

I have a Quiet Guard 4. Same problem so will describe my solution.
1. Remove bottom basket. Remove top basket.
2. Remove bottom washing arm. Unscrew (Gently but firmly) the centre post. Lift arm assembly up and out.
3. Remove overhead conduit. One screw at back, one at top (Philips #2 bit). Rotate whole assembly 45 deg right (Clockwise) and lift off of centre post.
4. Remove centre post (Pull straight up). Remove 4 screws (Star T-20 bit). Lift whole assembly out. Pop off screen and clean.
5. Remove cap over cutter/chopper. There is a single screw at front left (under assembly removed in 4). Remove screw (Star T-15 bit) and cap (Needs some wiggling to free it up). Remove cutter and filter. It is on a spring loaded pin. Pull the cutter blade foreward and then the filter disc straight up. Clean thoroughly as it may be the cause of your problems.
Reassimble. Good luck!

Dishwasher Problem...

You are right. The plastic screw needs to be removed. I have a Quiet Guard 4. My procedure is as follows:
1. Remove baskets. Need to pop off the 'keepers' at the ends of the top slidding shelf supports.
2. Remove bottom washing arm. Unscrew (Gently but firmly) the centre post. Lift arm assembly out.
3. Remove overhead conduit. One screw at back, one at top.= (Philips #2 bit). Rotate whole assembly 45 deg right (Clockwise) and lift off of centre post.
4. Remove centre post (Pull straight up). Remove 4 screws (Star T-20 bit). Lift the whole plastic assembly out. Pop off the screen and clean,
5. Remove cap over cutter/chopper. There is one screw at the left front (Star T-15 bit). Remove screw and cap (Needs some wiggling to free it up). Remove cutter and filter (this is the water blocking problem). It is on a spring loaded pin. Pull the cutter blade foreward and lift the filter disc straight up. Clean thoroughly. I ran a 'quick rinse' cycle with everything out to chean the inside.
Reassemble.
Hope there is enough of a similarity to be helpful.

Kenmore dishwasher leave white stain in dishes

probably detergent. try cleaning the sump out. here is how

ok in the dishwasher you will see you lower spray arm. take it off. now going up the back is the supply tube. you need to pop it off of thed top then the back and turn it clockwise to get it off the motor. after you do that you will see 4 torx screws. take all 4 out and you will be able to remove the fine filter. thats the normally grey piece with all the slots. after you remove the filter you will see two more torx screws. remove them they are for 2 seperate pieces one is the foreigh food seperator and the other is the chopper cover. remove both of them and clean the whole thing out. as yiou are puytting it back together. let me know if you get stuck

Leaking from the bottom a lot, immediately when I start the cycle

I found this post on another website. Hope it helps:

"Six torx screws securing the fine mesh filter just below the lower spray arm. Make sure they're all tight. Bit size is T 20 also, check for damage to the mesh screen. What happens when those screws are loose is water pressure seeps under and creates a tidal wave sort of effect by spraying water forward instead of thru spray arm...long shot, but I've seen it 50 times."

Dishwasher spray arms don't spin & spray water

Could be a a couple different issues.. Not filling with enough water or food chopper broke or food chopper filter screen clogged.

Check water level:
Run the DW and wait for the main wash to start (water will fill. pause then complete fill) The water should be no more than 1/4 inch below the heating element. If not there..replace water inlet valve.

Inspect food chopper:
1. Remove lower spray arm and rear water supply tube to upper spray arm.
2. Remove torx screws that secure the sump cover.
3. Remove primary filter
4. Remove food chopper cover to expose the chopper assembly. Inspect for breakage or blockage.
