This is not a Generic problem for all HP PC Laptops. You may want to run a battery check on the Laptop to ensure that the battery is not faulty. Also check the charger and see if it is running hot. If you are getting spikes from the charger, ( A/C ripple ) Depending upon how old the laptop is, you may want to remove the mouse and pointing device from the device manager and reboot unit only on battery. Restart unit and allow it to reload mouse and pointing devices. After completed, check mouse operation and feel. If you are satisfied with the outcome, re-install A/C adepter and check again. You may have removed some programs lately and in doing so, removed a portion of its drivers. If the unit is less than two years old, email customer care and log the issue with them.

Unlock cursor for acer laptop

Your laptop comes with a touch pad that acts as a mouse. Instead of connecting a mouse each time you want to use your laptop, you can use the touch pad that is integrated underneath the keyboard. This comes in handy when you are in a tight spot such as in a classroom or on an airplane. At times, you may need to unlock the laptop touch pad because someone who borrowed your laptop disabled it. It may also be locked due to a slight malfunction that you can easily fix by enabling the touch pad in your computer settings.
Click the Windows "Start" button in the bottom-left corner of your desktop. Scroll up and click "Control Panel." Choose the "Mouse" icon or type "Mouse" in the field in the upper-right corner. Click the "Enter" button and then click the "Mouse" link. Press the "Hardware" tab or the tab to the right of it that specifies the type of touch pad you have. If you are under the "Hardware" tab, highlight the touch pad in the list of devices and click the "Enable" button. If you are under the touch pad tab, click the enable button. Click the "Apply" button and then click the "OK" button. Hope this helps.

Desaparecio el cursor de la pantalla. Conecto un mouse y tampoco aparece el cursor.

The cursor on the touch-pad is probably disabled...try to go into the control panel ..and under he touch pad see if you can activate the cursor again ..If there is no possibility ...just download the touch pad driver again from the support site ..and run it into computer to install ...Restart when you finish and it should work again ..cause when newly installed the program is defaulted and all settings are new.

Acer laptop screen keeps rolling and I cannot type. cursor runs away to the top.

Hi,

Make sure that you are not touching the touch pad while typing. Reinstall or install an updated touchpad driver for your laptop to help control the cursor.

Hope this helps.

The cursor of my toshiba satellite has gone out of control .

You can try reinstalling the driver. I'm not sure how old your computer is or how much use it's had, it could be that the touch pad is worn out and needs to be replaced. You could try using a plug in mouse or track ball. Track balls work better with a laptop and are more like using a touch pad.

Please press Fn+F9 key to ensure the mouse pad isn't disabled. The key should have these symbols on it.

Cursor jumps around when I touch the mouse pad/

Maybe try updating the drivers for the touchpad or adjusting the settings in the control panel.

You can update drivers for the touchpad in the device manager.

Sounds like you have a touchpad malfunction. If its an older laptop, I would recommend replacing it. Not worth the hassle of trying to install a new touchpad...

Cursor Shift

This could be either a driver glitch or the touch pad is going out, both are common on these models. Start by uninstalling the drivers for the touch pad (some times referred to as the synaptic pointing device), then restart the machine. The machine will find the touch pad and reinstall the drivers automatically. If it's a simple glitch, this will fix it. If it persists, then the pad is failing and will need replaced. The only other thing you might try is to adjust the cursor speed or touch pad sensitivity from the control panel. This will sometimes help to dampen the effect, but usually won't get rid of it entirely.
