What causes a herringbone pattern on L172Wt television and composite input, but not PC input?

Neither Composite nor S-Video go through the IF section, but both have the patterning on them. HDTV input and PC analogue and digital inputs do not suffer from it.

Your PC input is a secondary interfase, it does not go thru the IF and tuning sections.
It is possiable the if section has taken a surge and will need to be serviced.

Does your TV show red, green and blue colors separated?

If the answer is yes, the problem is in the convergence circuit.

There are 2 integrated circuits (STK392-XXX) that need to be replaced by a qualified TV technician. The repair will cost around $150 or more.

PC Audio In (Mini Jack):1

Audio Out (Mini Jack):-

Initially I thought the problem was going to be no composite input on this television. However according to the specs there is one composite (yellow, white, red) input and that is where you connect the wii. Is the problem that you've already connected something to the one input and you're looking for another spot to connect the wii? There is a wii component cable http://www.amazon.com/Official-Wii-Component-Video-Cable-Nintendo/dp/B000JJRV90

What causes a herringbone pattern on L172WtProblem with the LG 17",ok on pc.problem entered 10 months ago.is there a fix now

Do you have another electrical device too close to your tv?
those patterns are caused by AC power leakage. You can move other devices i.e.sat box etc. further away from your tv to fix this.

TH-37PE30 - DVD picture now lousy (herringbone?)

Do you have an S Video cable connection on the DVD player? I'd try that If you have one or component (red green blue) cable or even the composite (yellow) connection. The SCART connection on the input PCB of the tv could be damaged. The cost of this board may be pricey so if you can use the other type of connections with the DVD player I'd recommend that or get a DVD player that has one of those. Your model does not have HDMI so those are your only other options. Hope this helped

I INSTALLED MY ATI RAEDEON 128PCI VIDEO CARD AND IT HAS S VIDEO OUT AND COMES WITH THE SVIDEO TO RCA CABLE BUT I CANT GET THE IMAGE TO DISPLAY ON TV

The S-video to Composit adaptor tells me that you wish to connect to the Composit input of the TV

Connect the TV , set the TV to ( Composit input ) Composit 1 , or Composit 2 , NOT A CHANNEL

restart the computer , this will help the video card and software to detect that the TV is now on and connected.

When you come back to windows you should be prompted to perform the television setup wizard

if not

go to your display properties

Advanced tab

and manualy configure the video card for television output.

Herringbone pattern

Herringbone (and other patterns) can be caused my many faults, the obvious one the tech was looking for was a tuner/interference fault.

Another common cause is a faulty power supply.

Difficult to say without having the TV on the bench.

I'm a bit suspect about the $400 - $500 repair cost though.

Perhaps try another tech?

I doubt it's a DIY repair though.

Let's know how you get on.
