It can be repaired but it is an expensive repair if it is an older unit you may be better off to replace it.

I put a knife puncture in my tru cold refrigerator, freezer combination in the freezer part

Is the freezer/ refirdge still working? If everything is still working, then the puncture did not cause damage to any great extent. Just place a piece of aluminum duct tape of the puncture hole. You can purchase the tape in a hardware store or Home Depot/Lowes, in the plumbing, heating dept. If the refridge is not working, then there is a major repair to be done.

some circuit problem in sensor, clean your ref first throughly inside and back. after that use it see what happen. be sure that the evaporator aluminum tube wire is not damage or punctured dent that may cause's a small hole led to leak the refrigerant.

Refrigerator has water dripping inside the unit down the back

The problem is the drain is clogged. Remove the back panel in your freezer and at the bottom of the evaporator coil you will see a hole about ½” in diameter this is the drain tube. You might need to use some warm water to melt the ice and then run a wire being very careful not to puncture the hose and run it down the tube to free up the drain. This tube travel down to the bottom of your refrigerator to a pan sometimes located on top of the compressor or somewhere else down there. It collects the water there to evaporate. You can enter your model # at www.appliancehelponline.com for a diagram or illustration of your refrigerator. Not all models are available.

Chipping away ice in magic chef freezer section i punctured freon line in freezer panel can refridge still get cold

No, the fridge will not get cold any more. The coolant goes to the coils in the freezer. The fridge takes a small amount of cold air from the freezer to lower its temperature.

I am sorry to say that unless you can find a way to repair the puncture and refill the system with freon, you are going to have to buy another refrigerator.

I've punctured a hole in the lining of the freezer compartment of our fridge freezer. There's now a small hole which has been slowly leaking a fluid which smells a bit like antifreeze. The freezer has been...

It sounds like you have punctured the evaporator coil and it is leaking refridgerant.

That would certainly cause the unit to be low on refridgerant which would cause it to start warming up, and becoming louder. It would also explain the smell.

If the unit is fairly new it *may be worth repairing, You will likely need a new coil.

Expect costs in the 300 to 500 range.
I reccomend getting a secondary place to store the food, and unplugging the unit emediatly if you want to have it repaired.

The reason for that is because the compressor is likely undamaged at this point. but if it runs on empty it will soon fail and then you can double the repair price or more.

Freezer puncture.  I punctured the liner to the freezer, creating a slight hole that emitted a vapor (presumably freon).  Must I repair it?  How do I repair it?

The freezer coil where you punctured is made of aluminum and there's not cheap way to fix it , but if the refrigerator is in good conditions you can replace the coil or get somebody to do it ( it is an expensive job).

Hotpoint Mistral Frost Free Fridge freezer - fridge not getting cold

We have just had to call out an engineer to get our 1 1/2 year old Hotpoint Graphite Frost Free Fridge Freezer repaired. The fridge had almost entitely stopped cooling even when on high. I was amazed at how easily the problem was sorted. The engineer removed all the basktes from the freezer to access the screws on the inside backpanel of the freezer. Once this panel was removed it was clear that the so called Frost Free doesn't really mean what it says. The ice need to be melted with a bit of simple care. It is obvious that with a bit of care it is easliy a diy job BUT PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND READ THE NEXT PART BEFORE YOU BEGIN TO REMOVE THE ICE> The ice forms around variouys pipes etc and he usecd a screwdriver to help release the ice quicker than waiting for it to defrost and he also used a simple hairdryer to help speed up the process. He had a ntowel and a basin to take care of the water. Next time I would have no problem doing this myself but I would need to leave it a little while to defrost and NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER as I am sure somehow I would puncture a pipe or the wall of the freezer itself and I am quite used to doing the odd bit of DIY. On a difficulkty scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being difficult I would rate the job as about a 3. Hope this helps anyone who reads this about £70.

Punctured freezer

You should contact a local welding shop to fix the leak. The tubing is made from aluminum and can be hard to solder for someone who doesn't do it all the time. After that you need an appliance repairman to pit more freon in it. I guess the question is...how old is your freezer? More than 6 years old? Anything older than that, you may just want to get a new one.
