Question about Maytag MFD2562KE Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator With Ice Box

1 Answer

Ice maker water line shakes with no water being used.

I could understand if the line moved while water was passing through, but to shake with no water being used is confusing. I've even turned the ice maker off and the line still shakes.

No water to ice maker

This could be because the ice is clumped in the ice bin. When the automatic defrost cycle occurs, heat is transferred to the freezer area. This can cause the cubes to melt slightly and refreeze back together. You can take the bin out and give it a good shake, or simply discard the cubes and start over with a fresh batch of ice cubes. By increasing the amount of food in the freezer compartment, you may be able to buffer the heat that comes from the defrost cycle and avoid clumping issues.
If you have a large ice bin and hardly use any ice, it is possible that the cubes have gotten stuck together just from the weight of the cubes on top of others.

The ice machine starts normally and runs for 2 minute. Then it starts shaking and stops running. What can be wrong?

If the ice machine is shaking that sounds like a gear on the motor inside the ice maker has did gears sounds like it's time to get a new ice maker

I have model 56532400 side by side. The water line to frig shakes violantly every few minutes slamming the back of frig resulting in loud noise. Ice maker not working. Red indicator light is on ice...

Air in the line is usually the cause of knocking pipes in a house. You might try opening the line and letting it run to clear all air out.

Is the freezer cold enough? Should be close to 10 degrees.
Is there water or ice in the ice mold? If not put water in it and see if it dumps the ice after it's frozen. If there is ice, lift the cut off arm and let it drop to see if it will start.
If it does dump the ice but don't refill with water.
ICE MAKER NOT GETTING WATER
Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. It's on the back where the water supply comes in. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

A strainer before the inlet valve can also get stopped up restricting flow.

Kenmore Coldspot Model 70162990 - not making ice

You've either got a bad timer on the ice maker or the water valve is defective. You need to verify that the timer is moving first. If it isn't try pushing in on the dial on the end of the ice maker. It is under the white square cover at the end of the ice maker, usually towards the door, but in some units it points to the left side wall. If it begins to run when you do that, then the timer is broken. If not then I would say that the valve is defective.

Water Dispenser and Ice Maker

Have you checked the pressure limiting valve which protects the filter from over pressure? It could be blocked/faulty. Have you checked the inlet on the valve assembly? It may be clogged up. Try bypassing the filter all together to determine if the filter is faulty.
