Question about DeLonghi Coffee Makers & Espresso Machines
You did not state anything about descaling, but every now and then, I also add water and descaler to the milk container and use the "Frothing" program to run through the water and descaling-solution (double-click the Cappuchino button).
I have also noticed that the first cup (and sometimes even the second) will produce less milk, and not as well frothed milk as later cups. My theory is that the machine is warmer when producing later cups.
If possible, you could try to run two-three frothings of plain water through before switching to milk. I realize this is inconvenient, but it could be worth testing this to see if it helps. We luckily have two milk containers and keep one filled with water just for the purpose of heating up (or whatever we do :) the frothing system before serving the first cappuchino.

I had the same problem. With my machine a little O ring came off the main unit. It was on the little pipe above the big pipe where you would slide your jug in to. I bought a spare o ring from the hardware store and all is good now.

For milk frothing issues, soak the milk jug cover in hot water and rinse several times. If it has a froth control that can be removed by sliding in the direction of travel towards the edge whilst jiggling it gently up and down. Clean off the little o-ring with a toothpick, be gentle. Muck out the inside of the lid. The control should easily slide and click back in place when done.
Froth still no good? Examine the milk coupling to ensure the o-rings are in the right spot and are pliable and undamaged. There should be an o-ring (usually green) on the top spigot, a (black) o-ring at the front of the bottom spigot and a (red) oring at the rear. The groove halfway along the spigot should be clear. Now with the toothpick and a hot moist cloth clean all the crud from the milk coupling, especially inside the smaller spigot. Check the tiny hole at the back of the larger spigot is not blocked.
Check the flow from the hot water spout is good. If not, there are internal issues, try descaling. If it is, test the frothing jug, if it is still weak either the jug cover or the milk coupling needs to be replaced. Get them to try a known good test jug at your local coffee service center to find out which, most will be happy to do this at the counter.
To keep these machines running right clean them out properly a couple of times a week, keep the brew unit serviced and always use the clean button on the frothing jug until the water runs clear.

I had this problem even after the machine and milk jug was cleaned. For the first time since I've had the machine I noticed another pipe. On the machine there's the pipe that you connect the milk jug to. If you bend down and have a look you'll see a smaller pipe above this. I used a dental floss brush to clean out the milk deposits. The pipe has a very small opening and this brush is like a small pipe cleaner. It worked perfectly. Had the best froth ever after cleaning out that pipe!

I have found that calcified milk deposits build up in the outlet spout of the container. I suppose this is inevitable when applying steam to milk. You will notice the entry hole to the outlet spout will have narrowed and poking with a cocktail stick will release calcified deposits. Poking a teaspoon handle in the other end does the same. Descale the milk jug, or at least the outlet spout with the descale solution from machine descaling. I have found that all things working well on this machine depend on regular cleaning and maintenance. Being it the milk jug, brewing unit, water tank, coffee spouts in the door, general descaling or cleaning and vacuuming coffee grinds from all around the insides. Even so, all this is worth the fantastic cups of coffee produced.
