Maytag neptune washer hot water fill problem

maytag neptune washer
hot water continues to fill even during spin/drain cycle, results in extra water in unit/spillage b/c water can never drain all the way
cold water ok, ie if i turn off hot water valve at wall, then no problem
how do i check the hot water valve in the unit or other troubleshoot tips
