Question about LG 42LC2D 42 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

I turned on my TV and for the first time in 3 years, you can't play DVD's from the BOSE on the LG TV screen. Usually I select the AV1 or AV2 option shown, but neither is working and informing me that there is no signal present. Can you assist me in solving this problem?

First you've got to check the cable if they are good.and you DVD player may be in progressive screen mode. change it to normal mode with your remote or in the front or in the rear of the DVD player there is a botton for that.

My plasma LG TV has a black display box in the top left corner of screen. No words or text in it, just a black box covering that coirner of picture...how do I get rid of it?

There should be a button on your TV remote that will be called "Display" or "P in P".
The display button usually displays which input you have selected, such as: SAT for Satellite; AV1, AV2, AV3 or AV4 - depending on how many inputs your TV has, to plug in devices like a VCR or DVD recorder/player.
Otherwise, if you have a more sophisticated TV, it could be that you have accidentally pressed the "P in P" button, that selects the Picture in Picture mode. If you have done this, your TV will display the main picture of the input you have selected, plus another input, (such as SAT or AV1 or AV2 etc. as I've mentioned above). If the AV1 or AV2, etc. input is not active (not switched on) then that input will only display a blank (black) picture in the top left corner of the screen.
Hope this helps...

Correct hookup from satilite receiver to dvd/vcr to tv

Av out from sat to AV1 on TV.
AV2 from tv to av in on dvd/vcr .
( if you can pick what av2 on the tv sends out set to send av1 out to record)
OR
AVout from sat. to AV1 on TV, AVvideo on sat to vcr/dvd.
The sat. system will act as a "play through" device so you can play vcr/dvd without changing the AV on the TV.
If you connect another lead in either option you may get a feedback loop causing audio "squeak" and video problems.
Post back to let me know if this helps.
