If you're not satisfied with the job the brush does you may have to buy or borrow a small compressor and use air to blow the lint/hair clear of the cooling lines. Our buildup was due to pet hair (2 dogs & a cat so the $200 I spent for the compressor, hose and extended nozzle were used monthly (clean cooling system will reduce the unit's e;ectrical consumption) and paid for themselves.

Go to the nearest home improvement store and purchase a rat tail brush. This brush is made for the exact problem that you are having. Ask an employee where to get a coil cleaning brush for your fridge It os easy to use and once you get the linrt and debris off the coil it is easily picked up by vacuum Good luck on your repairs

How do I remove the base grille? It's very tight and I do not want to snap any of the cheap plastic. Can't tell if it's held on by clips or snaps due to the heavy dust behind it.

Not knowing the model its hard to advise however most have clips and just snap on. If it is possible have someone tilt the frig backwards and take a vacuum to clean the coils and you can see what the attachment is

Why is my GE Monogram, model zfsb26dnd SS, emitting an odor from the front bottom behind the base grill. The air blowing from underneath produces the smell when the fan is operating. The odor appears

If your refrigerator is frost-free, check the drainage tray at the bottom, probably behind a removeable grille. You may find the tray is full of all kinds of disgusting stuff collected by drainage during defrost cycles. Remove the tray and clean it thoroughly. Reinstall the clean tray.

I purchased an older frig transported it standing up waited 24 hour then turned it on and its not cooling but i can hear the frig on

Hey friend, I appreciate your post!

I would check to make sure the condenser has been cleaned. Depending on your condenser you may need to remove the toe grille from your refrigerator and use a cleaning brush to remove any dirt or dust that could be clogging the system. If you remove the toe grille and can't locate the condenser you would need to pull the refrigerator from the wall and remove the back to clean the condenser you can use a dusting tool attachment from your vacuum.

If that does not help correct the issue I would recommend having a service technician out to your home to properly diagnosis and repair your appliance. I hope this has been helpful. -Matt

The display show service and blinks, i Kent cleared

A leading cause of so many problems with Sub-Zero refrig's is the coil behind the top grill above the doors is clogged with dust. You can use a vacuum with a hose to clean that coil by removing the grill and cleaning it. To clean it remove the grill by removing the screws that hold that grill to the upper door frame where the grill attaches to the door frame and unhook springs from back side of the grill so it can be taken off to clean the coil.

Burnt plastic smell coming from bottom of frig

This is a sign of a short and should be looked at immediately. A smell like that is a sign of something burning. I could be the start relay and start capacitor with overload. But I would not sleep with the possibility of a fire. I will look over your model and see if I can find what this could be, Sea Breeze

Vacuum condenser light of sub zero 650 is on - how to clean it

We recommend vacuuming your condenser every 3 - 6 months. Cleaning the condenser is important for the overall operations of the unit including cooling functions. A dirty condenser may lead to warm temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer. It may also cause the unit to run excessively. It may contribute to condensation or frost inside of the compartments. If the condenser is not cleaned properly it may even cause premature failure of mechanical components in the unit. Condenser Cleaning - All Models Before cleaning the unit, shut the electricity off at the control panel. When you clean the condenser, wear gloves to avoid injury from the sharp condenser fins. Use a soft bristle brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the condenser. To avoid bending the condenser fins, be sure to vacuum in the direction of the fins, up and down. Clean the condenser every three to six months or sooner if you have pets. 600 Series Framed and Stainless Steel louvered grilles: First remove the grille screws located at the bottom of the grille. Tilt the top of the grille forward and release the springs from behind the grille, then lift off. Overlay Panel Grille: To remove, lift up then pull out at the bottom and down to release from its mounting bracket. Remove the two black screws in the lowest louver of the grille. Tilt the bottom of the grille out and away. It will release from the top of the grille. Model 601RG Stainless Steel Grille: Remove in a similar fashion as the overlay grille panel. 700 Series All Units: At the bottom of the unit, remove the four screws holding the kick plate/grille in place. It will then slide forward, giving you access to the condenser area. 400 Series 424/424FS At the bottom of the unit, remove the screws holding the kick plate. The condenser is located behind. 427/427R: Remove the four screws holding the kick plate/grille in place. It will then slide forward, giving you access to the condenser area. 430: First remove the screws located at the bottom of the grille. NOTE: These screws (Phillips head) are accessed with the door open. Tilt the top of the grille forward and release the springs from behind the grille, then lift off. 200 Series 245, 249, 315W Remove the kick plate at the bottom of the unit, giving you access to the condenser area.

The freezer side went a couple days ago and the frig side went the following day. what causes this or how can i fix it?

If there is no refrigeration effect at all call for service, if there is partial refrigeration remove the grille in the front below the doors and make sure the condenser coil is not fouled with dust, with the refrigerator running the fan in the back should be running as well.
If the coil is full of dust use a vacuum to clean it best you can, if a clogged coil is the culprit cleaning is "some" will provide results.
If the fan in back is not running when the refrigerator is running call for service.

Feezer still cold frig warm

Glenn V,

ngfam1 at your service,
Happy to assist!

What is the model and year of your fridge?
Or rather how old is it?

1.-First is the freezer packed to the top where the frozen food covers the vents or air vents in the freezer?
The freezer and the refrigerator share the compressor and the cold air and the vents or passages between them must be kept some what clear! This can cause the warm fridge some times!

2.- Did you ever clean the tons of dust accumulated under the fridge on the condenser?
You gently pull off the front grill and with a flash light while laying on the floor eye ball the situation under the fridge!
If it's full of dust 2 inches high and all the way across and you can not see the thin black tubes of the condenser then this is the reason!! You need a refrigerator brush from home depot or some place to clean it out! A VACUUM WILL NOT FIR IN THERE ! AND BE CAREFUL AND GENTLE THE FREON RUNS THROUGH THOSE TUBES!
I've seen this many times that the folks never ever ran a refrigerator brush under there as long as they owned the fridge!
And the next day, 24 hours later it was up to full temperature!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you can not remove the grill, open the user guide and the book will tell you how to install the grill by pressing with your fingertips at the top and bottom of two clips or flaps of plastic that are part of the grill. One set top and bottom about 6-8 inches from the left end and the opposite on the right end!
If there is no condenser under neath and it is in the rear of the fridge you will recognize it in the back ,being thin black tubes running up and down the back of the fridge! ITS ONLY ON REAL OLD MODELS OR REAL CHEAPPPPPPPPPPPP MODELS.

IF THE FRIDGE IS 9 YEARS OLD OR MORE , DO NOT INVERST ANY GOOD MONEY INTO A BAD FRIDGE. And buying a new one will save you money on the elctric bill!
They are all much more effiecent than the older ones!
And it will pay for it self in a few years!
ngfam1 Bless YOu,
please give me the best rating here on befroe you sighn off!
Let me know if it works!
