I cannot access the internet by double clicking the icon on start up page ,Ihave to connect through run,wireless zero configuration etc each time. I am using an orange livebox-697F and an Inventel adaptor.

You may need to turn on XP's wireless zero configuration, and set it to start automatically.

Do this as follows:

Start -> Run
Type in services.msc
zwc001.gif Click the OK button, which will bring up the following dialogue.
zwc002.gif You may want to maximise the screen. Scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration and select it.
zwc003.gif You now have the option to Start the service.
You also need to change the Startup Type from Manual to Automatic
Action -> Properties
zwc004.gif Click OK.
You can now use XP to manage your wireless connection.

Wireless connection using livebox and belkin usb adaptor

You most likely need to reconfigure the livebox settings. The Livebox lost the settings because it was unplugged too long. Most router settings can be accessed by typing in or in the URL address bar of any web browser. From there, make sure that all other switches and devices on the network are on the same network. Meaning if your Livebox default gateway is make that the switch that other devices are connecting to the network through are assigned the IP address 192.168.1.x where x is any number other than 1. I hope this help, I know its not comprehensive enough but once I'm a 'Guide' you will be able to chat with. Then we can have conversation via IM Chat. This is my area of expertise.

I just paid Orange Fr to send a techy to help get my wifi working with my Laptop. All she did was access the wifi icon on my laptop. Once there she tyoed in the code; at this point she pressed the wifi button on the Livebox and hey presto I was in business. The mnistake I was making was to press the Connect button on the Laptop. I think pressing the wifi button is like pairing using Bluetooth. Now all I have to do is get the TV working. How do you connect a SCART outlet to HDMI. My TV is so new there are no SCART ports on it.

Orange Livebox and NIC

Sounds like an internal problem with the Orange Livebox NIC controller.

If you have an other router Lynksys/belkin you could try it would isolate the problem definitively

Can't set up wireless connection

  1. Check in your system: Click Control Panel, then double click System. On the Hardware tab click Device Manager. Click the (+) sign besides the Network Adapter. See if the Packard bell wireless adaptor is there. If its is not there, right click the Network Adapter and click Scan for hardware changes, and reinstall the network adapter.
  2. If the Packard bell network adapter is already there, click Start and click My Network Places. On the left side of the Network Connection, click View Network Adapter. The wireless network adapter should be there. Right click the wireless network adapter and choose properties. Give check mark on Show icon in notification area when connected (to show you if there is wireless notification), and give check mark to Notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity (to show if the wireless network is disconnected). and click OK
  3. Turn on the orange broadband livebox. And right click the the wireless network connection (on Network Connection) and choose View Available Wireless Networks. And the click the Orange broadband Livebox to use this wireless Network connection.
I hope this solution is helpful to solve your problems

Best Regards

Connecting powerline ethernet adapters through orange livebox

Try to eliminate the problem into smaller parts. Try networking the two via the same power outlet via a multiple power board first in the same room. I don't have much experience with these powerline ethernet but i'm sure the configuration of these will be very similar as wireless router / access points and wireless adapter cards. However what I do know is that your power outlets need to be on the same "phase" of your electrical power system, so if you do this test I suggest (from one outlet board) you know the equipment works and your setup procedure works. then try seperating again and if it still doesnt work, check if your power outlets are wired on seperate phases (depends if your house has 3 phase wiring incoming to your home or not). Try another room or another outlet.
