How do I change the bag on the Hoover Elite 600 vacuum

Looking up your vacuum it should be very simple. There will be a zipper on the side or back of the bag. Unzip that and it will expose the dirt catching bag. There will be a point with a hard round cardboard connection plate that connects to the intake hose. This is gently removed by pulling and twisting. Once you have disconnected that you can remove the whole dust collection bag. Your new one will be flat but still have the same connection point. Gently press that back on the intake hose securely and then zip the bag back up. The flat bag will inflate as soon as you turn on the vacuum again.

Vacuum cleaners: Loss of Suction

A common complaint about vacuum cleaners, regardless of the brand, is loss of suction. The motor runs fine, there seems to be plenty of power, and even some suction, but the vacuum just won't pick up even the lightest of items. There are some very simple checks and fixes to this problem most of the time.
The primary causes are: clogged hose, full bag, leaky hose.
Clogged hose: this is probably the most common cause, and will result in a damaged motor if not cleared.
Check: Remove hose from vacuum and wands. Holding one end, drop a marble or small ball into the opening and allow to roll through. If it doesn't come through the end, then the hose is clogged.
Solution: If you have a canister vacuum with an exhaust port, try connecting the hose to this and turning machine on. If the clog isn't too bad, this may clear it. If not, more extreme measures may be needed.
Never attempt to clear a clog with a coat hanger or similar length of wire, as this could easily puncture the house. Do not use water or high air pressure gun to clear hose.
Full bag: Check bag. Change if necessary. If it seems the bag should hold a little more, well, it's not worth replacing a motor, or the vacuum, trying to find out. Bag pores are easily clogged if the machine is used for cleaning construction areas where sheet rock dust is abundant. Ensure you’re using genuine bags for your machine.
Leaky hose: Over time, hoses suffer from normal wear and tear, and often abuse, resulting in cracks and holes, often too small to notice. Hoses need to be replaced at this time, and this generally results in a dramatic increase in "suction". There simply is no fix for a leaky hose.
Solution: Always store the hose properly to avoid kinking, crimping, smashing, etc. Avoid stepping on the hose, or leaving in an area where it may get stepped on , driven over, or smashed. Avoid pulling the vacuum by the hose, or otherwise stretching/stressing the hose.

Where do you hook up hose

Years ago I used to sell and demo kirbys up to the G-5 model,I believe you have to sit in front of your vacume, raise the wheels as high as they can go and on the logo face tun the crank one way, this loosens the belt and give a little tug and the roller sucking chamber will drop.Pull the chamber away.,now take your hose and stick it over the shaft and lock it down with the wing nut and then you can use all your vacume attachments.UNLESS YOUR TALKING - vacume bag hose- this is just a simple twist and click on the vacume exhaust chamber. Now if your hose is unhooked in your vacume bag it self, you will have to get a new bag attachment or get a repair man to look at it.

Bag was full, changed it, the unit now turns off

Try dialing the control valve to the mid way position. If the unit still shuts down with the bag full light on you have a damaged control valve under the dial on the top of the vac.
This valve failure is common in this model and can only be repaired by someone with original AERUS Electrolux repair parts, generally at an AERUS repair shop.

Need Manual for Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive vacuum clea

You can check for the manual at:

I would suggest checking the hoses for clogs. Especially the hose right after the carpet brushes. Don't forget to clean off your brush. Hope this helps.

Vacuum is not sucking. It is just over a year old.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
It sounds like you have a clogged hose or a full bag, or dirty filter. The best way to check your electric hose id to run a marble or steel ball thru the hose and if it goes thru all the way then check the bag and filter, most times it is the vacuum hose. If it id the hose you can try to pull apart the clog from both ends using another central or canister vacuum. If not and the ball stops mid way thru the hose then you can use a broom handle with a round hook on the end so that it does not puncture the hose is any place and the round hook can loosen or break up your clog and then your suction will return, if you poke a hole in the vacuum hose there are repair kits that go on the outside of the hose that will slide over the hose and then you use a heat gun and shrink the hose repair kit down to size therefore plugging the leak. (Hose repair kit). So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

No hose suction with replacement bag

The Bag must be blocking the port it connects to. Remove the bag and close it up. Test it again with no bag in it. If you have suction now, the bag is blocking the port. Maybe it is the wrong type, or installed wrong.

Vacuum shuts off

if you want to fix this problem gently pry up the air flow control knob and look down at the plastic hose connected below the control valve. insert a small screwdriver and push off the hose from the valve. this disconnects the bag full indicator but will let the vacuum operate normally at full vacuum. you will change the bag when suction gets low. this will save you at least $100 repair bill.
