Cd player Compaq desk pro the cd player playes to fast. Someone said to run winamp. I tryed it still fast.Is there to slow down the drive some how.

Delete the drivers/program. Reinstall.

try lowering the screen resolution in the game settings also ste the grphics quality to low then see if the game is running fast if it runs fine then increase the graphics options one by one like resolution , bilinear or anisotropic filtering , antialiasing etc
and i would also like to tell you one thing that if the graphics card was inbuilt in your laptop then don't expect it to play heavy games like this you will have to install a separate graphics card to play good quality games

In general, if the video isn't playing right, you are missing software to play a certain file type, or missing a codec. Explaining this would take more space than Fixya allows, but i will give you some general hints.

Make sure you have the right software installed.
If the type of file it is trying to play is a Shockwave file, make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Shockwave from Adobe.
If it is a Quicktime video, make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime installed.
FFA Encoder and FLV Decoder are two codecs needed for correct YouTube play in many cases.

I don't know how slow/fast your computer runs, and what it is capable of, but being an A/V guy, I have installed Windows Media Player, Real Aduio, WinAmp, Media Monkey, Adobe Shockwave, Microsoft Silverlight,RealPlayer, and various other music software and codecs - all without slowing down my computer.

Sounds like the cd player is defective. Other data programs will take the data at what ever speed the cd will produce, within reason. does the speed change when playing music?

whatever program you are useing to play disk , uninstall and re install it ,That should do it , if not . buy a better dvd drive , pioneer dvd 112 are only £25..duel leyer dvd/cd burner

There seems to be a problem with the cd drive. Business machines can use Cd,s the same as home machines.

i am pretty sure your problem is a faulty music player.. try winamp. its free, i hope that helps you..

Unplug it from the wall...give it a couple minutes. Try playing a CD again (using manual controls) If that works , your remote might be the issue.

If you bought the thing new you paid good $$ for it.

It's worth having it looked at by a Pro.

uninstall and reinstall your sound driver from the mother board CD
