I replaced my averatec 3200 hard drive 40gb with 110gb.. does it affect the the whole system? coz sometimes it suddenly shuts down... and one more thing, whenever i run NFS game, the graphics is too vague.. please help

The hard drive would cause the problem if the hard drive was bad, like if it had bad sectors on it and it couldn't write info to certain parts of the hard drive.

System shutting down on its own could be spyware or a bad hard drive would cause that as well.

As far as graphics are concerned make sure your video drivers are installed cause if there not then the graphics wouldn't be as good. Make sure you get the latest drivers from the averatec website.

If your worried about the hard drive, put in another one but make sure its a new one so you know you have the best chance of it working properly.

A common problem with all laptop is dust. Sounds like you have 5 years worth of dust stuck in there. You should get a can of compressed air and blow though every vent you can! You want to loosen the dust that's in there and possibly try to blow it out and/or get it closest to the vents.

After that you should take a vaacum cleaner and **** out all the dust you can!

Dust inhibits air flow, alot! Its the number 1 killer of old computers.

My 3200 has shut down and needs to be rebooted. I tried the recovery disk- 1-3. It states that there was a recovery failure. M.Wright
Your problem here is more then likely a hard drive issues due to bad sectors. Back up information and replace hard drive.

Boot failures are generally caused by the system not seeing the hard drive or not being able to read it. You should enter the system bios and see if it can see the hard drive or see if the system sees it while booting up. It could just have some bad files or bad sectors. Where it's in a notebook it probably doesn't have a bad connection. You can also boot off your system CD and choose recovery and see if you can see the hard drive.

Averatec 3200 shuts off "critical battery" unless i am pushing it in at some crazy angle. doesn't seem loose, but if you don't push on the cord insertion, it shuts down. tried duct tape and no use. should...
It could be the power cable or the DC jack itself. DC jack requires a re solder to the same main board. This repair can get expensive being you must take out the whole main board. Jack itself cost about 7-15 dollars and is easy to do if your comfortable with soldering.

Compter won't reoot
Try booting with using the Last Known Good Configuration option.
See if you can get into windows that way.
Let me know if that doesn't work and we talk about salvaging you data.

AVERATEC 3200
Sometimes laptops can get very hot in operation there are after market laptop Coolers that the laptop fits into/onto and has extra Fans to Cool the unit. Perhaps that would help... As long as the unit isn't getting so hot that it is faulting then it is most probably OK.. But my laptop gives me a "Warm Knee" when I use it for long periods.. Using the laptop on a hard surface helps too the air has to be able to flow to be cooled affectively.

Buying a hard drive for the Averatec 3200 Series
I have a tip. Don't forget to set up the drive as master or slave (depending on what you want the drive for). I personally have forgotten to double check this on numerous occasions (its always the simplest thing you overlook with everything) only relizing when I have the case screwed back on and am trying to boot the drive up.
