After 2 years our fridge was beeping and not keeping food cold, when we were having people over for xmas lunch. Luckily was still under extended warranty. The wires of the fan had broken and was not pushing the cold air around the fridge. 2 years later fridge is beeping again, assuming its the same problem. The fan is a cpu computer fan, so if you have anyone handy its easy to replace, fan is located under bottom panel of fridge section.

SOURCE: GE Fridge, Compressor not getting power from mother board

I asked that because in most cases, when it is a problem in a motherboard, it is likely a power surge or lightening. I can also tell you that when it comes to mother boards and component level, likelihood, it isn't transistors or anything unless it smells or looks burned. Most shops would just replace the motherboard and ship it as repaired becaue the cost of the IC isn't worth the possibility of something in another IC on the same board knocking iit out again. Short of plug and play, you have no real way of proving this board good/bad. You might try EBAY with your model number to see if you get lucky. I just got rid of an electronic stove because the control board went bad. New board was $150 with a possibility of it going out in 6 months. As I am not made of money, I now have a gas stove. I you could, please rate this as a fixya as I am just being honest and saving you time and aggrivation. Good luck

It could be one of many problems but will most likely be a refrigerant leak in the refrig evaporater

if removing the mother board made no difference to the fridge operation then it would be logical that the mother board is faulty

Had similar problem, freezer was working fine, but fridge was warm, (68 degrees) It wasnt my damper, the mother board was fried, and so was the inverter board that told the compressor what to do, after having the inverter and two mother boards replaced.......I threw it out, biggest piece of ****, only three years old, and Sears would not stand behind it, even though I used their repairmen. I will never buy another GE product, or enter a Sears store again

You need to test wiring harness and connectors, and control board. (motherboard) seems to have a control board problem. If your not getting 120 volts in the light socket then you have a board problem check for loose wire at the control board.Hope you rate my response. Thanks

Amana fridge stopped working. Now working again. that is the mother board. it is not a mechanical timer but the adaptive defrost is integrated to the controller of the whole fridge.

anyway, look at the lower back portion of the fridge, near the wall , at the compressor compartment is a housing of the mother board. you won't miss it since a lot of wires goes to that box. unplug the ref, remove the cover of the box, remove all the wires attached to the board, and replace it.

i hope i was able to help and please do not forget to rate on the original post.

tnx 4 using fixya,
