Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

I would get on another computer that works and find the Network Adapter file for your Gateway and download on a USB drive and take over and install on the non-working Gateway.

I just wanna know if theres a way i can make my computer gateway gt5408 wireless or does it come with a wifi card in it

Hello,
This Desktop does not have a wireless adapter installed. You can buy a wireless N PCI card and put it inside the case in an empty PCI slot, or (easier) just buy a USB wireless N adapter and plug it into a free USB port. PCI or USB wireless cards typically go for about $60 (Canada /USA) This will allow you to connect to wireless networks.

How do I change gateway solo 9300 to wireless.?

Best thing to do is to get a usb wireless adapter, here is an example of one that would work with your laptop:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Netgear-WG111-Wireless-G-54Mbps-USB-2.0-Adapter/5148147?findingMethod=rr
There are many other at different prices and speeds, just know that it will plug into your laptop and you'll need to install the drivers that come with the adapter. Usually its just running a setup.exe file but read the documentation to be sure.

We are trying to set up a wireless-g USB adapter to a notebook. We already have another computer hooked up to the netgear. The notebook does not have a CD rom drive so do we need to download it from the...

If you are using windows and it dosn't have a driver of some sort for the wireless dongle (USB adapter), then you will have to hook up the computer directly with a "Wired" network connection, (Perhaps using the connection from the other computer), to download a driver.

If Windows does have the driver and it's working. Go to your Network Connections folder, and into the Properties of the Wireless Connetion and set it to use, "Windows Zero Configuration Tool" to manage this connection; as opposed to a wireless management tool included with the device.

An option should be around there that allows you to "View Available Wireless Networks". Take that option and look for your Router's SSID, or name. It should be the one with the strongest signal.
Double click it, or select Connect.

You will need the security settings here.
Enter it if you know what it is.
Copy them from the other computer's advanced wireless network settings, or if the other computer is a Wired Network computer, then browse with the Internet browser to it's network connections "Default Gateway" address, Usually 192.168.x.x where the x's are 0 or 1.

Get the Default gateway by opening a Command Window, (Command Prompt / DOS prompt) and typing:

ipconfig /all

This will list the network connecitons IP addresses, and Default Gateways.

Once in the Default Gateway on the Web Browser, log in and look for the Wireless security settings.
Get the Key listed there, and use that on the notebook wireless conneciton.

Hope this helps,
Cheers.

I need help installing my 2wire wireless adapter card.

I used this one:

Introduction
============
This document describes the procedure to install driver for the 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter under Microsoft Windows, and to run a wireless configuration program to configure your 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter to work with a 2Wire HomePortal or OfficePortal wireless gateway. These drivers work under Microsoft Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, and XP.

STEP 1 - Driver Installation
============================
1. Make sure your 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter has not been connected to your computer USB port.
2. Double-click on the file to run WinZip Self-Extractor. The driver installation files will be placed in your hard disk in the C:\TWWUSB_TEMP directory
3. Connect your 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter to an available USB port in your computer. Windows Found New Hardware Wizard will startup.
4. Select the option to search for driver in specific location. Specify C:\TWWGUSB_TEMP as the location of driver.
5. Follow on-screen instruction to finish driver installation.

STEP 2 - Wireless Configuration
===============================
1. Run the program WirelessCfg.exe in the directory C:\TWWGUSB_TEMP. You can do so by clicking on the Windows Start button and select Run. The Windows Start button is typically at the lower left corner of the screen. Type in C:\TWWGUSB_TEMP\WirelessCfg.exe to launch the program.
2. Follow on-screen instruction to configure your wireless setting. Enter the serial number and encryption key as they are printed on the bottom of your 2Wire wireless gateway.

2wire 1701 HG Gateway wireless not working

Hi,

There could be a lot of possibilities why you lost your connections at the same time. Could be windows update or changes had been made in your 2wire 2701 HG.Its impossible to say that your wireless adapters turned bad all at the same time.As what you observed , wireless light is off meaning your 2wire doesnt detect any wireless connection. You can try reconnecting them 1 at a time by going to your wireless connection tool or network connections.

If that didnt help, you can use your PC w/c is connected using the USB connection. Using this step, you 'l have a chance to edit and view your wireless network. For you to access your 2wire you must know what your 2wire address {default gateway}. Using your hardwired pc go to start > run > type in cmd then hit enter > on the Dos command screen type in ipconfig and hit enter> youl see your default gateway . It would look like this 192.168.1.254 for example cos sometimes it would vary depending what ISP you have, Open your fav browser and on your address bar type in your default gateway. That would lead you to your 2wire page, there youl have a chnace to view you home network. Check if your wireless encryption and you network name if everything is still the same. {Best thing is to change your wireless name or SSID. Then try to reconnect on your wireless connection for each computer and make sure you have your wireless encryption.

Hope that helps. Pls let me know asap if you need clarifications.

Cheers.
