Question about Dacor Prefrence PRV36 Stainless Steel Kitchen Hood
It's hard to say. It depends what caused the problem. If the cause is simple wear then replacing the control unit is really the only thing you can do. However if moisture, grease or grime has managed to get in and around the contacts under the buttons then cleaning would help. The problem is that the only way to clean that area is to disassemble
the control unit. So your going to have ask your self just how annoying
it is. If it's becoming unusable then it should be replaced. So you really have nothing to loss
by attempting to clean it. It really depends on your level of comfort
with taking things apart.
I would also get in touch with Dacor and explain the problem. It's possible your problem might not be uncommon and they may have something in place to deal with it. Below is the link to there home page.

The cooling fan supplies cool air to the unit to prevent overheating.
Please observe the following cautions for your safety.
Make sure the unit is well-ventilated. If the unit has poor ventilation, the temperature inside the unit may rise
and may damage it.
Do not obstruct the cooling fan or ventilation holes. (If the cooling fan or ventilation holes are covered with a
newspaper or cloth, heat may build up inside the unit and fire may result.)
So look at the fan and make sure it's turning. Pick out the dust balls. Give the system room to breath (Page 13: 4" clearance from the fan)
