Question about Kitchen Ranges

3 Answers

We had a boil over on the stovetop of our Thermador Model# GSC30CVW-01 and then the oven began beeping and the digital display showed F1. I pressed cancel which stopped the beeping but then the oven shut off completely and now the oven as well as the digital display are not working. Gas stovetop still works. I'm really hoping we don't need to replace the oven. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong?

Thank you so much for your quick reply. Does this mean that the clock stops working as some type of safety shut-off during a boil over? I had thought that perhaps water from the boil over may have gotten a control panel inside the oven wet but it does not sound like that was the case, correct? Is there any way to use the oven without the clock? This is where the oven control buttons are and none of them appear to be working either. The problem is that the clock is inside the stovetop and doesn't appear accessible. Would you recommend that we call someone to come out and replace the clock or since that exact model is no longer available perhaps that is not an option either? Time for a new stove?

Thank you Taran2005. I have been told that the clock for this particular range has been discontinued and I know I can't access the clock as it's inside of the stovetop. Do you think a repair technician could even fix this if that particular part is no longer available (e.g., is there another clock that could fit this model?)

F 1 code means the Control module is probably bad. Try this test, it may save you a service call:

This simple test will help determine whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective when F1 error code is present.

Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC (Clock).

Warning: If you feel in any way uncomfortable performing this test or making this repair, please contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

1. Disconnect power to the range (unplug the range power cord or turn the power off to the range at the circuit breaker). It is very important that the power to the range has been disconnected, so please double check before continuing.
2. Gain access inside the control panel.
3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called keypad or membrane switch) ribbon from the ERC.
4. Make sure there are no lose wires, or anything else that may cause a short when power is turned back on. Assemble the control panel back the way it was.
5. Turn the power back on.
6. Wait for at least one hour to see if the F1 code comes back (usually accompanied by a beeping sound).
7. If F1 comes back, replace the ERC. If it does not, replace the touch pad.

F1 error on your Thermador oven means... Internal logic failure (monitoring function). Sounds alarm and inhibits cook modes Check or repair: Replace the ERC Electronic Range Control (A.K.A. the Clock) CLICK HERE to see the part in question - unfortunately it is no longer made by the manufacturer. I have exhausted my resources looking for a replacement. It is unavailable anywhere. You may be able to remove it, and take it to a local electronics repair shop that can give it the once-over and check for blown capacitors, diodes etc. Simply removing it may allow you to see what was damaged. often times there will be visual evidence of moisure or component burn-out. Thanks for using FixYa!!

The manual says error code "F1" means a problem occurred in the circuitry and suggests pressing "CLEAR" to reset it. If the problem persists, contact a repair guy.
See page 19: http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodinfo_pdf/Springfield/316257104en.pdf
"This oven is equipped with a state of the art electronic oven control. Among its many features is a full time oven circuit diagnostics system. The control constantly monitors its internal circuitry as well as several crucial oven circuits to insure they are all operating correctly. If at any time one of these systems fails, the control will immediately stop operation, and beep continuously (flashing an error code of F1, F3 or F9 in the display window, if equipped). Electronic control has detected a fault condition. Press CLEAR to clear the display and stop the beeping. Reprogram oven. If fault recurs, record fault number, press CLEAR and contact an authorized servicer."

My oven was set to self clean. It got extremely hot and the it began beeping and flashing F1. I turned the circuit off, because I wasn't sure if it meant "Fire". So is it ok to turn the circuit...

Frigidaire's slide-in ovens feature an electronic oven controller, which serves to monitor and diagnose most electrical problems within the oven. If any of the oven's electrical systems fail, the controller will prevent the oven from functioning and will display a flashing "F" code on the oven's digital display and produce a beeping sound. To stop the beeping and clear the display, press the "STOP/CLEAR" button on the oven's control panel. Many times, the problem can be remedied by simply resetting the oven's controls. First, turn all of the oven's control knobs to the "Off" position, then allow the oven to cool to room temperature. If, after turning the oven on again, the "F" code still displays on the digital display, contact Frigidaire, as the wiring is likely to be defective.

Dacor oven beeps and shows F1 code

-F1- Alarm “System Watchdog Circuit”
The system will detect a failure in the internal watchdog element relay circuits and will activate a
cancel feature. F1 will be displayed in the time digits and will beep until the cancel button or another
function is selected. An F1 failure could be detected in cook or time of day mode. With an F1 failure
the ERC is picking up a command to supply heat without receiving an input from the membrane. The
watch dog circuit is designed to prevent this.
If the beep continues after pressing cancel check the main control (ERC)

Same issue w/our Thermador CM301. F23 and F24 codes - BSH acts like they have never heard of the problem! Awful service. This should be reported to the Consumer Board.

What does "F1" mean? The oven is out!

I think f1 is a problem with the oven control board. Look on the back of the oven for a tech sheet and it will tell you what the codes mean and what to check.
