Does it do this on every input / signal? A DVD and TV for example will both have sound cut out?

Let me know and I will help you out here.

Thanks
Tim

So it is only on the channels then, correct? In that case, check the connections from the cable box / satellite box (if you have one) to the back of the TV. Try turning off both the cable box and the TV, then unplug both from the wall. Give them about 2 minutes unplugged and then plug them back in.

Let me know what you find.

What could cause a 27" Sanyo flat panel dp26648 to lose picture, but keep sound?

There are two reasons why your Sanyo DP26648 would has sound but no image and both are equally likely in our experience.

First, you may have a problem in the section of the power board that supplies the backlight module (called inverter) with 24V.

We've seen that several times and the problem is usually minimal - only electrolytic capacitors gone bad - and other times not so minimal.

We have a repair service for that power board and we may have some boards available too...check out at

Sanyo 46" 1080.must you use hdmi cable to get best picture?

Yes. HDMI cables are the best for sound and picture quality with an hd signal at this time than anything else. A lot of people can't see much of a difference using HDMI rather than s-video, component / video, or rf cables but there is a slight difference. You will have to have an hd signal or source such as an hd sattelite receiver, an hd cable box, bluray, etc to benefit fully w/ an hdmi cable.

Home Theatre system goes into MUTE mode while film playing

Sounds like your system is going into a safe mode. This happens when you have a neg/pos reversed hooked up, or your wires are touching. This feature prevents you from blowing up your amp. Check your wires, and make sure the positive is hooked to positive etc. and make sure no bare wires are touching.
