Hardware specs for a dell latitude d620

While cleaning under the removable panel where the power button is found, i noticed that there was a connection that was and does not have a circut board/panel to plug/connect into and that the one that was originally belonged in the upper left hand corner, right above the keyboard of my DELL LATITUDE D620 was missing and I have no idea what to ask for when I begin my search for a replacement part. I was wondering if you knew of a place online where I can view the specs of if you had access to them and could tell me what it is I am to be searching for to fix this problem?

Thank you,
SiSI

Sometimes computer manufacturers use the same case/ motherboard in a higher end spec machine.
With lower end spec machines the compartments for devices are there but the devices are not.
It's nothing to worry about and is standard practice for manufacturers.
I have a Packard Bell EastNote L4, on my motherboard there is a space for a PCMCIA slot (even cut out of the base) but like yours it's not there.

Regards.

Try here for the specs, manuals (including service manual) and drivers for your laptop

http://support.ap.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=au&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=LATITUDE%20D620&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

be aware that building a laptop the way major companies do is to add all the wiring for all options before it's finally put together so the plugs and sockets are there in case they are required.

please take a moment to rate this solution thanks

Thats Bluetooth card, which is not there. Dell sells laptops with or without bluetooth, but always leaves space and cable ready for bluetooth add-on.

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

It would seem from the information supplied that you have either, a Virus which may need the HDD removed for a check, or a hardware problem which I would be unable to diagnose online. If you are able, you should run a virus/malware scan at the earliest opportunity. If it runs for long enough to do a scan you may be lucky. It may be that the laptop has just become full of dust and rubbish.

When i turn my computer dell latitude d620 on it comes to the dell screen then the windows xp screen and then it goes black with nothing more than the mouse. what could be the problem?

This sounds like a video issue. Try starting the system into safe mode (after the dell screen, tap F8 to get the startup menu and then select safe mode) When in safe mode, go to the control panel and remove the display adapter driver from the device manager under System > hardware tab. Try booting into normal mode windows- you should be able to get into windows at that point. Download and reinstall the graphics driver from support.dell.com. If the issue reoccurs after you've reinstalled the graphics driver, it means that the video card on your system has gone out. At that point, contact Dell technical support if you are in warranty to get service- if not, try pricing the replacement video card from Ebay or Dell parts service.

the batteries eventually wear out and quit taking a charge. You can run the system without a battery with no ill effects. replacements are about $100 for a new battery

Dell latitude d620 power on password can't remove

No need to short out any pins, shorting out pins allow you to reset the BIOS quickly. When you leave the BIOS/CMOS battery out overnight, this will reset the BIOS (you only need to leave the battery out for 1/2 + hour to do the same thing).
