No. the good thing about windows(and the only thing) is that it compatible with virtually any motherboard. The only thing you need is to make sure you have enough memory and hard drive space for this operating system.

While loading windows it freezes

You are not saying what version of Windows you are trying to install. There is a common issue with WIN XP installation where at the "33 minutes to go" mark, during device installation, the system just hangs forever. This occurs when WINDOWS is trying to identify and load default drivers for all the motherboard components. If there is a defective component, the install will hang at that point. It is said that after a few successive attempts that WINDOWS will continue past the error, but my experience has not shown this to be true. In my case it was time for a new motherboard.

PC not booting after shutdown.

Starting the system in Windows XP Safe Mode can help the users diagnose and solve many serious issues, especially when starting normally is not possible. Safe Mode is an important component of Windows that allows the users to access the Windows interface without having to load unnecessary software and drivers. Safe Mode is a standard feature of Windows and sometimes it is also quite useful for various problems.

Windows stop and nothing happin

hi If able to load win XP or any operating system that mean your system is booting and is in good condition. if there is issue with load of OS in normal mode then you try using last used configuration. follow this steps
1) keep press F8 when bios screen goes off until you see win xp option
2) then choose "last used configuration".
it will try to boot the system even though the system does boot properly then repair the os by booting xp dvd or cd from cd & dvd drive.
i hope this will resolve the issue.

I can't load Windows xp. Get this error with blue screen of death irql_not_less_or_equal I had windows 7 on it but not all of my devices would work. Win-7 loaded with no problem . So I put xp in format and...

In regards to getting the "irql_not_less_or_equal" BSOD this can be related to several things. You could be having a driver problem or a hardware related problem. To know exactually what your problem is we need to look at the stop code you are getting as well. The link below will show you what number I need to see exactually where your problem is.

http://www.fixya.com/support/r4443711-blue_screen_death_bsod_important_info

Note Since you have gotten Windows 7 to install most likely the issue is driver related. So the thing to look at with your Windows XP CD does it atleast have SP2 as a part of the install. If it does not you may not have all the chip set drivers that the motherboard needs.

Not able to complete windows xp setup

First let's try to "flash" the BIOS to correct the erroneous data crashes. Here's the link for the motherboard:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=P4VM8

After flashing go back to the BIOS and setup the appropriate settings, after that reboot and try to load Windows. If this fails then possibly you may have faulty memory modules or they are not seated correctly in the motherboard, try swapping them, hopefully they are the same. I hope this helps.

PC keeps on restarting

Power supply can be your issue , when windows boots from CD it a mear dos-mode boot , If it was motherbaord problem it wouldn't boot at all . If you move power supply to test the motherboard issue just make sure it enough power to boot the other motherboard ( some pwer supplies can boot all motherboards )

EMachine W3052 with FIC K7MNF-64 Mobo

I did just solve all my problems with my own FIC K7MNF-64

Stop error: 0x0000007b / may be caused by attempting to load XP HOME

I've not determined exactly why attempting to load XP Home will cause
error 0x0000007b on the FIC K7MNF-64 , but it does , and it's a situaion not covered in the microsoft artical on it.

From what I can gather XP pro was the offical operating sytem for the board which I've now loaded to mine , windows 98/ME can load to it without problem so that rules out a hardware issue on my end.

eMachine T3395 or W3050 shipped with the FIC K7MNF-64 in them.

Drivers can still be obtained from eMachine for the board as of 8-26-2008
but for XP pro only from what I can see. you may need to hunt around for
98/ME drivers , even if you manage to get 98/ME drivers you will most likely still have a PCI Universal Serial Bus issue so best to load XP pro if possible. biggrin.gif

I hope this information saves some people alot of time.

May the nForce2 be with you , always.

Power Saving Mode

Hi, Offhand, based on your post "...Reinstalled XP ...worked for a couple of days" apparently makes this a software issue and not a hardware problem (motherboard). What was the last software/application that you installed "after a couple of days" before the problem resurfaced? This might be the culprit. Alternately, this may be an automatic update issue with your drivers. Perhaps you can give it one more try and do again a clean/fresh install of Windows but this time turn off the auto updates and load the drivers only from the CD that came with the motherboard. Of course as my own daughter would say, "save yourself the trouble, a new one comes with 12 mos warranty." Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
