This laptop has a separate piece with the power jack on it. It is notoriuos for coming loose or breaking. I suggest a new power connector assembly on ebay for $28

When you wriggle the plug in the power socket on the laptop and the charge LED flashes and in the right position it charges, this indicates that the power socket is faulty or there is a dry solder joint on the motherboard where this power socket is attached.
To get at the power socket will require dismantling the laptop completely. A computer repair shop can do the repair, I suggest you get a quote first.

How do i replace to charging coil on my laptop

You Probably need to replace the DC Power Jack which is where the laptop plugs into the computer. If it is loose then it is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside the jack and see ifthe little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have to take the laptopapart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto the motherboard, so youwill have to desolder the old and solder a new one.
Make sure your power cord is good. Some powercords have a light on the adapter portion that lights up when plugged in.

The owercord on my gateway nv55c laptop keeps overheating and shutting off

Is the power cord fan running? If it's not then the powercord is probably bad and you will have to buy another or if it is under warranty you can send it back and tell them what is going on and they should send you another one

Seems more like a problem with the power receptacle where you plug the power cord into the laptop. In order to fix this problem, you will need to disassemble the unit to get access to the motherboard & replace the power receptacle with a good one.

My gateway profile 4 desktop will not power on. nothing happens when I push the power button. measured 12v at the computer end of power cord. switch look ok. worked fine yesterday.

Remove the power cord and then take out the battery. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds, then plug in just the AC powercord and try turn the laptop on.

If it turns on let it boot into the operating system and then shut it down and put the battery back in.

Hopefully this will resolve the problem but if it doesn't turn on again with the battery in there is a problem with the battery.

Post back if you need more advice.

Good luck.

Can't get power to my laptop.don't know if it's the laptop, or the powercord

Look for a friend around and trouble shoot swapping the power cords. But I believe it must be your power cord that should be replaced.

Do the trouble shooting before replacing.

Replace keypad gateway w340ui

The gateway w340ui is a LAPTOP if I am correct.

Please refer to my other posts on the topic of replacing
laptop keyboards, if you can find them for detailed
INFO common to most laptops.

Every laptop is different, and the first challenge is to find
and download a disassembly manual from the WEB.

You want to GOOGLE for the keywords:
Gateway w340ui Disassembly
Many people put up diagrams and instructions for free.

If this fails, the look to D/La service Manual, which will give
you all the info you will ever need plus some, bu it may
cost a few bucks. $15 is reasonable, $20 is pushing it.
Anything over that is a scalper.

Most keyboards are easy to replace, but the challenge is
getting the cabinet opened. The disass'y manual will be a
great help.

1) Shut down Windows
2) Turn off the PC using the power switch.
3) Unplug all the cables and remove the main battery
(This step is very important)

4) Press the power button again as if trying to turn the
PC back on. This should drain any remaining power in
the internal capacitors, but give it a few minutes just to
be sure.

5) Now you need to get the top off. This may require removing
all plug-in gadgets, floppy, CD drive, Internal Hard drive...
etc. to get at hidden screws from below....

or there could be hidden clips and catches from the top.

There may even be a single hidden screw near the
keypad's perimeter, underneath one of the keys,
which will allow the keyboard to slide out.

Sometimes you can slide a very small and thin exacto
knife in-between the plastic body sections to see where
the binding posts are.

6) Once you have physically plucked out the keyboard or
remove the top cover, you will see a very thin ribbon cable,
(transparent, thin, flexible printed circuit) connecting the
keyboard to the main board.

7) This cable is extremely fragile and very tightly inserted
into the edge connector.

It can be very hard to take out and even harder to put back in.

8) When removing it use long, hooked needle-nose pliers,
and gently tug at each side of the cable until it comes
out. Wrap some soft tape over the pliers to make sure
you don't damage the printed circuit on the ribbon
cable. Take you time !!!!!!

When putting it back, alignment is very critical, and you
have to use the pliers to bend the cable so it is perfectly
aligned and parallel to the connector. It will NOT go in
at an angle or if it is not in the same plane as the
connector. Don't FORCE it, but it has to go all the way in.

Hooked plastic surgical clamps or tweezers also work,
but always wrap something soft around jaws:
tape, rubber tubing, etc.

Hope this helps,
place rate my answers.
