Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I set my laptop to hibernate instead of shut down and when I go to restart it never reboots. I just see a spinning icon saying that Windows is restarting. This happened once bedore and i took my laptop to the geek squad. They made me pay $35 to do something that took them about 30 seconds. I figure whatever they did I could do to - I just don't know what they did...

Toshiba satellite pro does not fully shutdown

In Control Panel, select Power Options, you didn't post your OS?, set to High Performance, open Change Plan settings, set Computer Sleep Never, open Change Advanced power settings, scroll through the settings, set Sleep and Hibernate to Never, open Power Buttons and Lid, set to shut down. Now the red X on the Battery Icon usually means the battery needs replacing, it's not charging. Shut down the Laptop unplug, remove battery, plug in , reboot.

Milton carroll,i have an acer laptop thats fairly new,5 months old. When it goes into hibernation after i go to bed,in the morning it does not want to startup properly. What can i do to fix this startup

You kn ow the old joke: man goes to see the doctor, raises his arm way over his head and turns the arm sideways, and says, "Doctor, it hurts when I do this!"
Doctor looks at the man, says, "Then don't do that!"So if you're having problems with hibernation, don't hibernate. Try using Sleep Mode instead, or simply do a shut down and restart it when you need it next.
There may be a problem with the hibernation system in your PC and if you leave it alone for a while, you may get an update from Microsoft which will fix that problem.
BTW, if you are not allowing your PC to get Microsoft's Windows Updates regularly, then you truly should, as they release little fixes all the time, and often there is not an exact explanation as to the thing it will fix, specifically. Just a "critical update" tag.

Cheers!

On/off switch keeps blinking

The on/off switch usually blinks if you have put the computer into hibernate instead of shutting down, or with laptops closed the lid before it has fully shut down. Restart your computer and if it says resuming windows instead of starting windows then this is what has happened.

Hope this helps

Packard Bell laptop switch off instead of hibernate

This is done via Windows Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> "Power options" -> "Choose what closing the lid does" and select 'Hibernate' instead of 'shut down' for both 'On battery' and 'Plug-in' power.
Let me know how you go!

Toshiba A215-S4767 will not start up correctly.

First off, Windows just didn't like the way the computer shut off, I would just restart normally and see what happens. Next when it boots up and you get into windows, Go to the control panel > Power Options > go to the hibernation tab and make sure hibernation is unchecked. Next go the setting that reads "shutting the lid". You want to open this setting with a drop down list and pick "Do Nothing", this will keep the laptop from entering standby mode just for shutting the lid. Laptops do not like hibernation or standby modes....windows hates it and will give you all kinds of problems if you continue to use it.

Medion MD96420 notebook : Windows explorer keeps shutting down and restarting

Check Ur power settings in the control panel. U may also check the power settings in the bios on reboot (F2). Either one can put the system in shut down or hibernate. Need more information as to what is going on if this is not the problem.
