I would check the thermal fuse (High Limit) If you have a model number, go to , enter your model number. This will bring up a prats blowup. you can find the fuse from there. If I remember correctly, it's located toward the back, just under the lid.

Depending on how old the unit is and the model number.
I would say the need to replace the thermal fuse kit.

Have a maytag dryer that is 9 years old. The timmer is clicking, the light inside is OFF when the door is open and when I close the door it wont run. I have taken out the thermal fuse (the big one) and...

if the light is out check the door switch as this is a s.p.d.t. switch used to operate the light with door open and the dryer circuit when door is closed, otherwise if its electrically heated with an element, make sure the units getting 240volts,if you are only getting 120 volts it will let the timer or motor run,but only the component thats on the leg/phase that is still hot, tandem pole breakers need to be re-set as they can show good but one leg can be out then only 120 volts instead of the needed 240 volts to heat the unit,a gas fired dryer only needs 120 volts to operate, otherwise then it can be the hi limit thermostat on the element housing or the cycling switch, all need to be good, because its a series circuit, and any one will kill one leg of power if its open/bad

Not heating

If the dryer runs it may only have 1 of the 2 legs of power required to make the heat. Follow your wire diagram with the unit running. BE CAREFUL even if the unit is off 1 side of the heater could still be good. Remove power, then wires from 1 side or the other and check for continuity of the element. If continuity is ok the controls are suspect. The motor has a centrifugal switch so it must be running to check out the switch or anything else in the control circuit. if the heater ohms out ok. If you do not have 220V (USA) then you will have to get into the dryer. Check at the door switch 1st make sure it "clicks" push the button in and out. If this sounds correct hold it in and try to restart. If it runs at all this switch is ok. If no then go to next step open the dash pannel, or raise the top to access the heating elements. Some times the wires melt off and you just hav to get them repaired. use high heat terminals that fit snug - tight. If wires ok check voltage to element. if no 240V then the problem is in the heater circut, a bad thermostat, timmer, motor safety switch are all suspect. with the dryer running check across the 2 terminals of each control. when you get 220V and the unit is running this is the trouble. The timmer can nbe confusing as uit will have multi connections leave this for last. If you happen to get 220V at all connectioins the heating element is most likely.

These recommendations require a little tech knowledge. If your unfamiliar with these tips send me a note for clarification or consider allowing a real tech look at your trouble.

My dryer WED5820SWD wont stay running unless I hold in the start switch. It happened the other day in the middle of the cycle, also the wrinkle guard stoped working as well. I think that it is the timmer?

Sounds like you have a bad door switch, if it wont stay running and reason for the wrinkle guard not working is the electronic control (circut board) is bad.

I have a matag performa model PYE2300AWY dryer that wont start. Jumped out the thermal fuse, and door switch still nothing. Whats next? Timmer?? HELP

Could be a burned lead, timer might be bad, or the water level switch could be bad. (Water level switch enables motor operation when the level is high enough.) Hope this gives you a good lead to check... Good luck.

G.E. electric dryer will not run, when you turn the switch to start it only hums. What could be the problem, it is only 3 years old. Thank you

First of all check your door switch, make sure it is operational. If the door switch checks good, the start switch could be faulty, in newer dryers the start switch is built into the timer in older dryers your start switch may be seperate, if you have to push on the timer dial to start the dryer, its built into the timer.

Check any other safteys that may be stuck open.Double check anyway. If it wont do anything, I would say its the door switch or the start switch.
