Question about Apple MacBook 13"White /2.0Ghz Intel Core2 Duo White/2GB (2x1gb)/80GB/SuperDrive (Z0DT) Mac Notebook

1 Answer

My macbook with OS X 2007 software is not working when i try to print anything. I mean pdf, doc, website articles. As soon as I choose print as an option it instantly shuts down whatever application i'm using. I have not had a problem anytime before this and have not downloaded anything crazy recently. I tried restarting but that didn't seem to help.I am able to surf the net but that's it. any suggestions?

Hi Keilah
It's an odd sounding problem, but try this. Close all the running programs so that you are just in the Finder. Open the Applications folder on the HD and locate the Utilities folder. In there is a small application called Disk Utility. Launch it and then select your HD on the panel at the left hand side - it might say Toshiba, Hitachi, Fujitsu or something like that. Then in the main panel select the tab that says "First Aid"
At the bottom of that main panel are four buttons, 2 of them may be greyed out. Select the one at the bottom left, "Repair Disk Permissions"
Go and have a coffee while it does its stuff (it could take anywhere from 30 seconds to 15 minutes).
At the end it will say that it has completed. It may give up a message or 2 to the effect that some items have been modified and could not be repaired - don't worry - it 's a glitch that doesn't matter.
Now quit the program and restart the MacBook. Is the problem still there?

    OK, Plan B

Go to System Preferences, locate printer and fax settings, Highlight your printer and then press delete (the minus sign).

Now you should have no printers listed.

Now click the plus sign and wait until the computer finds the printer, then press add and make sure that the default paper size is correct. Hee in the UK we sometimes get an oddity where the paper size changes from A4 to US Letter by itself and that can cause all sorts of print problems.

Close the prefs box and try to print again. It's always a good idea NOT to have anything open while you do this printer routine - it works either way but closing everything first at least prevents a problem with a document affecting what you are doing.

    Does it work now?

if not, we're on to plan C

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

When printing from word the paper jams in printer.. works fine in all other programs

I work at a printing center at my college, sometimes this happens to the students that print. When printing it could be the word document itself: the file could be too big, or the printer could be reading the file wrong. Try saving the word document to a PDF (Print, Print as PDF), then try printing it. That way the printer reads it as a sort of image and not a .doc file, or .wrd file.

How do I scan a multiple page doc which includes engineering drawings into one PDF file using my HP C3180 and Mac with "tiger OS X ?

Only one page per scan. But scan the desire doc and print it in the quantity you want. For the docs to be printed in PDF grab a copy of CutePDf that works as a printer driver. When you choose the doc in to printer you will choose CutePDF instead of your HP.

If you need more help come back.Post / thumbs / testimonial are welcome!

Mac upgrade means Xerox printer won't print!

There are apparently incompatibilities between some Xerox drivers and the security-improved Snow Leopard. It seems that many pieces of software (and drivers) relied on not-so-clean techniques to cut corners while operating. These techniques are no longer allowed by Snow Leopard (the same problem afflicts XP SP3, Vista and Seven).

This article lists several problems, explanation and (perhaps) fixes:

http://www.ucalgary.ca/it/news/4366

Meanwhile, Apple is working to some workarounds too (there is an update linked in the article which may be of interest to you).

Macbook start up problems

We'll that happened to me also.. i researched and found if you goto apple.com and look up support for macbook. Look for .pdf macbook repair manuel. There you'll get start up procedures. turn off power. Then load start disk, hold down "alt/opt" button and then turn power on. Wait for a min or two and then you'll see your hard drive and start disk to choose from. Choose start disk and click enter. Be sure your disk isn't scratched.. i had that problem. Then wait... it takes awhile so be patient. You'll get the whole set up again. DONT ERASE YOUR PRIOR DISK!!! Thats where i screwed up! So.... you should be able to get what you want .. if not.. its a new hard drive you'll need to buy... i'm heading to Best Buy and the Geek Squad for my help!

good luck!

Office 2007 professional and Adobe 8 Professional problem

Very simple fix. Now and then after an Adobe Acrobat update Office will disable Adobe Acrobat as it is an add on. All you need to do is re-enable Adobe Acrobat. In Office 2007 goto Word Options, Add-ons, and at the bottom of the page is Manage. Click on the down arrow and select Disabled Items and click on GO. Re-enable Acrobat and you should be fine. In Office 2003, goto Help and selects disabled macros and re-enabler Acrobat.
