AMILO Li 2727 Can't Detect New Hard Drive

Hello I'm in the middle of repairing my sisters Fujitsu AMILO Li 2727, upon powering the laptop on, i'm presented with a disk read error, i have tried to reinstall windows vista, and xp, both fail whilst loading files, so naturally i assumed the hard drive is faulty, i also cant get it to work in my working laptop either, i'm fairly sure its dead which is weston digital by the way, anyway i ordered a brand new Hitachi hard drive which i know works ive loaded vista onto it using my working laptop with no problems, however when i put it into the amillo laptop, it wont even post, and the bios settings confirm that it cant detect the hard drive, does anyone know of and compatability issues with hitachi hard drives, or how i might be able to solve thos problem, time is really of the escence so i dont want to waste time ordering another hard drive if i dont need to.

any help would be very much appreciated.

Cheers

Ant

Ok so i know this is many years late but i figured out that the laptop is basically ****** against hard drives, there are only certain hard drives that will work, shortly after i had the problem i replaced the hard drive with a weston digital and windows installed faultlessly, maybe this will help someone in the future.

Take the laptop to the hardware store and have them change it (the hard disk) for you.
its not a difficult task as they can do it on spot.
they usually have 3-4 brands of hdd and will find the one that suits you by trying. note that this is a very - very rare situation. normally there is no compatibility issue in hard drives. (ok i dont mean to try to put an 120GB disk in a 10 years old laptop that had a 6 giga drive).
as for the drive you already bought, it will not be wasted as you can buy a case and convert it to a usb drive with minimal cost - here in greece it costs about 9-10 euros. see this for your sister:

remember though that you CANNOT load vista (or anything else) on a laptop and take the drive out to another laptop - they (vista or xp) will not work or they will crash often due to different hardware settings. ok ?

Verify that no pins were disturbed when the drive was removed and replaced. as long as the hard drive is the same interface as the laptop the new drive should work. The interface is standard for hard drives by type so if the pins match it should work. ATA, EIDE etc.

My feeling is that there is a problem with the interface where the hard drive hooks up into.

Best thing to try just to verify it, reset the BIOS to factory defaults and reboot the laptop and see if it recognizes the hard drive then. If it doesn't then go back into the BIOS and just make sure in the BIOS where it detects the hard drive that its not disabled.

If you do these two things and the hard drive still isn't recognized then you know without a doubt that the motherboard is bad.

My Fujitsu Li 2727 laptop keeps freezing. I

1. Go to the "my computer" icon and check the C: drive to see how much space is available if less than 20 GB this may be you issue. Not enough storage space.
2. If you have a USB hard drive free. Move some unused data that you want to keep to this hard drive.
3. uninstall any programs that are not used
4. If you have used your PC extensively it may be time for a new hard drive.
5. If you haven't down a "defrag" on this hard drive in year it may well be that this is the issue also.

I have recently installed windows 7 to a fujitsu amilo li 2727

I have been through this myself, the software you are missing is called Launch Manager. Browse to Li 2727 on http://ts.fujitsu.com/support/downloads.html and download the drivers for vista, verified working on win7 ultimate. Install launch manager and the wireless + brightness hotkeys will work again without any further setup!

AMILO Li 2727 carnt find the hdd

Check the BIOS setting, does it detect the hard disk?
If it doesn't see the hard disk you could have a faulty disk controller, most likelt you have a faulty hard disk.

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2727 how do i take it back to factory settings

Hi there.
To factory restore a Amilo 2727, restart the laptop and press F8 as it starts up. It will bring you to a sub menu with safe mode etc, in that list you will see factory restore, choose that option and just follow the on-screen instructions.

Good luck with the restore and thanks for choosing FixYa!!
