Question about Toshiba 32HLV66 32 in. LCD TV/DVD Combo

I have a Toshiba 32HLV66 with built in DVD with no picture.

I have a Toshiba 32HLV66 HD LCD with built in DVD with no picture. It took a lightning hit and fried the power supply. The repair shop replaced it and got it to come to life but with no sound. They then told me it was either the inverter or the panel but it was not feasible to repair further. From what I seen is that if the panel is fried then it might not make since to try and repair. But are inverters that expensive? I'm also having trouble figuring out which board actually houses the inverter?

It seems to me it may cost more than what it is worth to repair this TV...Does the audio out on the tv still work? Maybe it is just the internal amp that fried. You could by a pair of amplified computer speakers with a sub woofer for say a computer. They sound really good and are inexpensive.

I have a dvd stcuk in this unit...How do I get it out?

If the door will not open, take a small paper clip and unwind it so you have a straight part about 1-2" long. Look at the DVD door and see if there is a small hole. If you see one, put the paperclip in there and press a bit to see if it will open the door a littlw. If it does, you may need to use a non-metallic popcycle stick or similar to get the dvd into a position where the door will open all the way so you can extract it.
