Question about Olevia Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have had an Olevia TV for about 18-24 months. The following information was taken from the back of my TV to get us started: M: Olevia--237-T12 Serial # (?): FM 1-037000KGo09 LCD HDTV--37 inches Recently, when watching TV, it plays perfectly as it has since I bought it. Last week we were watching TV when it cut off--the screen went black and no sound. I cut it back on and it worked fine. It's done that two or three times with no telling when it will go blank on me. Do you have any idea what could be causing it that I may share with a TV repairman? Thanks, Jim Langford je27332@yahoo.com

My TV repairman as replaced a couple of electrolytic capacitors. It still cut off as I described earler. It might run 24 hours perfectly, but, then, it cuts off--screen goes black. I turn it back on and it works fine for an indefinite amount of time.

Thank you for your advice on my Olevia TV: "...replace all electrolytic capacitors except main capacitors (big ones) that will solve the problem."

    My repairman is so doing.

Question: what if this does not work?

    Thanks,

    Jim Langford

Problem seems in power supply board and most probably few electrolytic capacitors would be bad/ leaky/ weak in power supply that causing sudden shut it down and reboot.
Hope that will help to TV tech.
Thanks.

If TV tech could replace all electrolytic capacitors except main capacitors (big ones) that will solve the problem. Another possibility can be lose connections/ dry solder joints in power supply board that needs to be re-soldered.
    Thanks.

Try the following steps:
1. Turn on the tv. 2. Slide the "Mode" switch to the "tv" position 3. Press and hold the "mute" and "select" keys at the same time until the green light under "tv" flashes twice. Release both keys. 4. Using the remote's keypad, enter the digits 9-9-1-1 5. Press "pwr" key. Point the remote at the tv. 6. Repeatedly press "channel up" key until the tv turns off. 7. As soon as the tv shuts off, press and release the "select" key Your remote should now be programed to the tv.

It's your power supply. have it taken care of ASAP before damage happens on the board where it can't be repaired, just replaced, "if they can find one".

Olevia 332h comes on for a few minutes then turns off

I have the same problem with my Olevia 332h. The TV shuts off after 10 seconds. I decided to wedge a desk fan in between the wall and the back of the TV. It worked! The TV doesnt shut off anymore. This problem is obviously heat related. I hope this information helps you.

SYNTAX OLEVIA LT30 POWER SUPPLY

Yes they are bankrupt, and they did see repair services out to third party vendor- this appears to be phone support at $25 per 1/2 hour.

email response from service inquiry....

Thank you for contacting us. My name is Ravin and I understand that you have called in today for further troubleshooting but you were offered a paid service instead. Based on the information provided, I believe that the following steps should effectively resolve the issue:

I am sorry to inform you that, Syntax-Brillian, the manufacturer of the Olevia Brand, has declared chapter 11 bankruptcy and has ceased all operations. Because Syntax-Brillian is no longer in business the warranty for your product is void.

Amergence Technology, a 3rd party repair company, can offer paid repair services for your television and a paid service for further troubleshooting. Since Syntax-Brillian went out of business, Amergence is offering repair services to owners of Olevia HDTV's.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our Support Team at 866-965-3842 Monday through Friday between 7.00am 5.00pm PST

Sincerely,
Ravin

I have an Olevia tv model 437-S11 that won't power up.

Hi there
I solved my problem by downloading new software from I can't remember the website (it's been about 5 months) and loading it via USB cable. I can't believe it worked but it did. You should try Google search and look for troubleshooting tips for your tv. Include model and serial numbers. When you download new software make sure you have the correct software version and find and follow directions as to how to get it done. Let me know if it worked for yah...Good luck and a happy new year.

OLEVIA tV is a F#$King JOKE!!!!!.....I bought my tv in Jan and it went out 3 months after that, let me put it to you like this its Oct and i havent got my tv back to this day.

Got a case number and a tracking number that didnt make any sense. The shipping company they used didnt get paid so its been in there storage for 3 months. In some way if you have been waiting for your tv because of the shipping...Olevia is responsible for trans issue and pulling off on the shipping company.

OVERALL
DONT BUY A OLEVIA TV..... YOUR BETTER OFF WITH A LG!!!
